Why is Kuroda still in? This is pathetic. Why is he terrible against red Sox?

  2. #652
Swisher sure is making it easy for us to accept his departure.....

10-8 Yanks so far, I love wild ones. No boring National League 1-0 games here!
Lou Gehrig is the Truest Yankee of them all!

Kuroda really hurt the Yanks today by not giving them some length. Those games tomorrow will be interesting if they have to get into the bullpen. Let's hope that Hughes can stay in there longer than Kuroda did. I believe Garcia is starting the early game. I just see him getting lit up, but hopefully I'm wrong.

Boston didn't do much better with Beckett. Yes, it will be interesting today. Ace will pitch today. I like Ace but now that he's a BoSox.... (Still can't believe Brian let him go and now a BoSox!) What do you think Logan giving up hits and runs when he comes in and getting the wins? Crazy.

Very nice YANKEE 10-8 win with the bullpen doing its job with no one being over worked. If Hughes can give us another eight innings we should be fine. Every reliever Valentine brought in gave up a hit to the first batter they faced.

And what about yet another great defensive play from Jeter when with men on 1st and 2nd and a ball destined for the outfield and a bosux run, Jeter went deep into the shortstop hole made the snag saving the run and best of all getting the force out at third to kill the rally.

Good thing Beckett was even worse.

garcia not giving up a run in 2 innings #improvement

What a quality start from Garcia today. 6 2/3 innings of one run ball and Eppley goes 1 2/3 and allows nothing. Jeter with 8 hits in last 3 games. All Yankee wins.

Good work Freddy. And yes you are still going back to BP once Pettite comes back.

Defense in this game is really bad.

Could be even a touch worse than really bad. Corey Wade may have punched his ticket goodbye.

It looks like Hughes was more of a problem than Freddy today. Not that he pitched all that badly, but he threw too many pitches (at least from what I could tell since Fox doesn't put the count up). He's doing a much better job of finishing guys off with two strikes, but he certainly has to work at it.

Release Cory Wade. Why was he even in the BP to begin with.

Never throw out Hughes against Boston. Ever.

Going to have days like that, plus Dubront is their best pitcher this year. I agree about Wade. I know they were going to call someone up - but something is still wrong with Wade. Was actually thinking of what you were saying. I couldn't believe it. Logan did his part, too, and could have been worst if Joe left him in. What was funny Tim McCraver was talking about how good Joe Giradi is as a coach and his best is handling the pen. I sometimes wonder if he is watching the same game I am. He just talks. Joe Buck I got use to. I actually miss Joe Morgan. Turn the light after Wade and went to bed. I want today's game to go into the all star break. Nova and Lester will be a good test.

Hughes would have been fine if the Yanks played even a little defense.

Defense didn't do him any favors either.
"After my fourth season I asked for $43,000 and General Manager Ed Barrow told me, 'Young man, do you realize Lou Gehrig, a 16-year-man, is playing for only $44,000?' I said, Mr. Barrow, there is only one answer to that - Mr. Gehrig is terribly underpaid."- Yankees outfielder Joe DiMaggio

Good News: Holy Cow has Andruw Jones heated up this series.

Bad News: What is up with Robertson?

What a nice position for the Yankees to be in at the All-Star break. Who would have thought, with all the injuries and several guys still out of action.

The Yank's bullpen has been a major reason for their success in the first half of the season, but they've been living on the edge lately. One timely hit by the depleted Red Sox lineup last night against Robertson/Soriano and that would have been a totally different ballgame. And it wasn't just them. The bullpen gave up 6 walks in 3 innings yesterday - and that was with a 4/5 run lead. There were at least two runners on in every inning, and a long ball would have made that a very uncomfortable game. Hopefully this break is coming at the right time.

Is anyone watching this HR contest? What a bunch of classless a**holes in KC! They are all booing Cano and cheering when he makes an out. What reason do they have to boo him? Sure he's a Yankee, but what rivalry does KC think they have with the Yankees? I don't think the Boston fans would be that classless. This is ridiculous.

I think Kansas City fans want to be #1 in something. So they are going to give Philly fans a run for their money for being the most classless fans ever....

(expletive) Kansas City fans! It's been 27 years since they've made the playoffs and I hope they go at least another 27 years. They deserve it.

Yeah, but Chris Chambliss has been retired for a while. Time to get over it. I still can't believe that happened. This was the All Star HR derby in an AL park, and it wasn't just a few fans - it was the whole stadium. I'm sure it had to rattle him, as I don't think anyone would expect that. It's not like he's a dirty player, or someone universally disliked like an A-Rod. In all my years of watching baseball I don't think I've ever seen anything like that. What a bunch of D-Bags.

Okay, I just read an article in USAToday that explained it: The KC fans are upset that Cano didn't choose their lone All-Star, Billy Butler, to be on the derby team. Butler is tied for 16th in the AL for HRs.
