How do you propose any individual, The Marlins, or MLB apologize to Guillen WITHOUT giving his comments even one whisper of support or agreement?

    Wow.

    On another note...

10th grade history books are wholly irrelevant here. You post reeks of racial insensitivity at the least, and veiled racism perhaps. Not YOU... as I don't know you, but the post is wholly inappropriate. Is is that far from Campanis suggestion regarding "necessities" for leadership lacking in a certain ethnic group? And these white Americans in the box seats... The ones wih enough money that Guillen and the Marlins should be cautios as to. It upset them....

The "average" American (of any ethnic group) is not dropping thousands on season tix in the box seats, where 95%+ if not more of the people in those seats get their tickets. You need more scratch for that.
Got me dude. Me defending Ozzie for his comments admiring Castro is extremely racist of me. And the 10th grade history reference is relevant because the public's perception of Ozzie does matter. Their perception of Castro and the situation in Cuba is essential to the level of which they are offended by Ozzies comments or not offended. Since most people don't have the hobby of studying history outside of what they are taught in school. And yea white people make more money on average than minorities. Look at the numbers, look at the politicians, the people that own baseball teams outside Moreno, the wall street bankers. Which is why they are buying more box seats. Box seats make the most money. Thats teams across all sports are renovating stadiums or building new ones to incorporate box seats.

Yea its pretty far from Campanis's comment because I was more than obviously insinuating institutional racism. Which is what accounts for the factors I mentioned beforehand. I thought this would be pretty obvious. What matters to average Americans also matters to these rich folks. They are all about marketing properly (how slop like McDonalds gets to 1 billion served). See the president of Tropicana in the Marlins box and people insinuate oh he's with the Marlins who have that guy who support Castro, blah, blah, thats why this matters. Thats why its a big deal--rich, mostly white folks.

Don't call me a racist again by the way.

I am all for people whining and complaining about wealthy people and the evils of cooperate America or what-not. It is understandable to hate and resent greed. But it sure as heck better not be coming too loudly from people wearing Nikes, drinking Pepsi, or getting monthly checks from Cheverolet that puts THEM into the 97th% of affluence in the world.

Matthew, I can assure you while I have certain indulgences I am far from well off.

If you live in the US (with the exception of a very small minority) you are very well off compared to almost everybody else in the world.

But I wasn't really addressing you directly, just the overall hypocrisy from so many with "Occupy" movement worldview that are driving around in their BMWs, etc.

And the biggest thing is: no amount of hypocrisy from any political affiliation, social class, or media outlet, etc. explains Ozzies lack of wisdom or justifies Castro's human rights violations.

Maybe Ozzie thought he'd get away with it. More than likely he wasn't thinking at all tho.

He does seem to spout off whatever comes to his mind. Of course he is not short of very strong and often times very controversial opinions, which is not a sign of "lack of thought."

    True, true.

Straw. My point is Ozzie seems to not have any tolerance towards people from Venezuela. He got rid of Magglio and called him a Venezuelan piece of s***. He also flipped out on Sean Penn when Penn praised Hugo Chavez. It seems Ozzie has a huge dislike for the ruthless guy in his native country, but does not understand Cubans dislike for the ruthless guy in Cuba. Maybe Ozzie should use the advice he gave Penn, and go live in Cuba for a year. What's fair is fair.

I could be wrong but I always thought Guillen was good buddies with Chavez. I dont know if this is true but I heard Guillen didnt go to the Whitehouse after the Sox won in 05 because Chavez hated Bush.

Guillen claimed he didnt attend due to something else but seriously thats pretty bold to turn down an invitation to the Whitehouse. I could have the story wrong too but I do recall something along the lines of this.

I'm not a fan of Castro or his regime, and I'm not excusing Ozzie's boneheaded comments, but really, I'm just sayin'...

Look at our own government before you crticize another...CIA overthrowing govt's putting dictators in power, sacrificing poor kids in America as collateral damage in never ending wars for the rich to get richer. A foreign policy of taking money from poor people in a rich country to rich people in a poor one. Internet censorship in the works under the guise of catching child predators...SOPA/PIPA coming back, Detainment of american citizens w/o a trial

The difference between Iran,North Korea, Cuba and the U.S. and U.K. is that the former don't try and hide the fact of the people having no rights.

I don't agree with ANY of those govt's current policies but the only I can do something about is my own, and I try...

As for saying you like the guys perserverance while at the same time DENOUNCING his philosophy ...Guillen's suspension is unjustified

Yeah and my point is it's crazy to expect Ozzie Guillen to be consistent - ie what he says about politics matters very little indeed. Chavez and Castro are also very different...

I personally admire all of you, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to place this thread on lockdown.
