(I don't have cable. The only access to TWIB I have is from MLB's own website which has not been updated since last season ended.)

Wasn't the show produced by Mel Allen? It would appear that noone has stepped up to take his place.
In any case, the show had a fabulous music track. Best sport show theme track ever.

TWIB has been on for quite some time after Mel's death. Buzz Brainerd was the announcer the last time I checked. And it was definitely producing new episodes at least up to last year.
Can anyone with cable TV confirm that the show is still being produced?

After Mell Allen's TWIB was stopped around the mid 90's (I wanna say 1996 but I cant swear by that)......Ozzie Smith took over as the host for the next few years.
After Ozzie stopped doing it, I dont know what exactly happened to it. FOX still produced it as late as last year, but I dont watch it anymore.
No offense to Ozzie, he didnt do a bad job from what I remember, but TWIB died with Mel Allen as far as i'm concerned.

Sunday afternoons at 1pm watching TWIB with Mel Allen before the Mets game came on at 1:30 were some of the most cherished memories of my life.

If I hadn't already dropped cable, I definitely would right now. Only show I have left to watch is Law & Order: SVU. I may have only watched TWIB in the last couple of years but I already miss it.

The last time I watched was when Jennie Finch had her segment pitching to MLB players. But Allen truly made the show. That and the intro/closing and the music that went with it.

After 20 years, I just got back into baseball a few years ago. I was wondering about TWIB.
I agree, it wouldn't be the same w/o Mel Allen.

Was great as a kid without satellite, would be cool now with HD-DVRs........since the season started i'm now wondering where Clubhouse Confidential has gone? (The SABR show) It's just Highlights, MLB Tonight and that show Intentional Talk (which i can't stand). Totally on Hiatus from ESPN, the guy who said cable isn't worth it anymore is spot on, Law & Order can probably be found from a streaming service.
Too young to even have seen a Mel Allen version....

the original TWIB ended in 98, and that as far as I was concerned was that mel and ozzie were very good indeed but the series died on its ass when it returned after a years hiatus, I still have the orignal finale of TWIB from 98 on vhs somewhere from a british station that carried baseball and yes I still watch it from time to time, BTW does anyone here have any TWIB episodes on vhs/dvd?

Before TWIB, this was used as the theme music for ABC's Weekend News in 1975-76.

It can.I get it from iTunes - in HD, I might add. And I think NBC's own website shows episodes of the various L&O's for free.
Side note: Does anyone know why, when MLB.com shows (past) TWIB, in this link...

It's the "Winning Road Trips" and the bit where they show exciting plays from the previous week's games. Both of those segments are cut from the episodes shown in the above link.

The opening theme music to TWIB is "Jet Set," composed by Mike Vickers, a former member of the original Manfred Mann band. "Jet Set" was first used as the theme for the original 1974-75 version of the game show Jackpot. It has also been used as introductory music for productions as company training films. When Fox brought TWIB back, a slightly revamped version of "Jet Set" is written.
The closing theme to the show is "Gathering Crowds," composed by Patrick J. O'Hara Scott, a pseudonym for the same Mike Vickers. It is typically played over a montage of baseball's greatest moments, building to a crescendo with a punctuated 3-note chord as the MLB logo slides into view. The piece has also been utilized to similar effect for montages and credits at the end of local TV newscasts and the like. The theme is a fan favorite and is considered one of the greatest sports themes.

Topical shows like TWIB rarely make it to DVD. It's their topical nature that don't make it conducive to video sales. Same reason The Daily Show, which is in its 16th season doesn't have a DVD release and probably never will.
A DVD of featurettes for TWIB is possible, but never full episodes. Unless someone is selling bootleg copies they're pretty much gone forever.
