I got to watch it, the 5th inning on...Happy Days, a game I got to see of the Mets, here in California, one I ACTUALLY GOT TO SEE (even if only in part) was a NO-HITTER!

milladrive, if it doesn't get a DVD...well, I'll be pissed, but TELL ME you have this recorded! :O

PLEASE! Gotta have THIS ONE in my collection!
Unfortunately, I didn't record it. However, they'll be replaying it on SNY tomorrow at noon and then again at 7pm. I'll try to grab it and send you one. If by chance I don't get it, though, my gut says it'll be added to the 12-disc DVD 50th anniversary box scheduled for release in September.
    Put it in the books.

It wasn't perfect or even pretty (though not to AJ Burnett or Joe Cowley levels of ugliness), but it's our first no-hitter.

In lots of other places around the web, it's depressing to see the hatred that this engenders. Let the Cards put Adrian Johnson alongside Don Denkinger. We got our no-hitter.

Gary came in the shape of the fan wearing his shirt that got to celebrate with Mets on the infield. That fan probably didn't even realize what was going on.

Maybe I am the only one, but I am going to say it: for me, some of the excitement of the no-hitter is dampened by the ump's bad call. It just is.

    DAMNIT I MISSED IT!!!!
I has two choices, see the Mets or see Radiohead (my favorite band). I went to see Radiohead instead. I was keeping track with the game but I didn't notice he was pitching for a no-hit bid until this morning.

But still congrats Santana for making Mets history. "PUT IT IN THE HISTORY BOOKS!!!!"

Just watched SNY encore, at least the last 2 1/2 innings. Very exciting.

I watched all 28 outs in a four minute highlight and he had batters fooled all night long. The K's and many pop ups and flairs. If he can stay healthy, he should be a productive pitcher even if he can't throw with as much heat as in the past. His ability to change speeds will make him very effective. Good to see Johan pitching well and glad he got the no-no.

    And on the day after...

    Dickey follows a No-No with a 7-hit, 9 K, Complete Game Shutout!

Back-to-Back CG shutouts for the first time since 2010--ALSO Santana and Dickey!

This is one HELL of a 1/2 punch in the rotation...nearly 1/3 of the way through the season...if the playoffs started today...

The NATIONALS (of all teams) would win the NL East...
The Mets and Marlins would BE IN THE PLAYOFFS and playing each other as the two NL Wild Cards...
The Yankees might be OUT the playoffs, they'd be tied with the Indians for the 2nd Wild Card pending a tiebreaker...
The Dodgers would have the Best Record in Baseball (go figure)...
And the Phillies, Braves, and Cardinals would ALL BE OUT!

Way to early to call it, obviously, FAR too early ("Playoffs? Don't talk about playoffs...PLAYOFFS?!" ...Sorry, wrong sport) but still, the Mets are playing some VERY good baseball right now, and the whole feeling around the team's been slowly getting better--

It's SPIKED in the last 24 hours or so, I think, after those two starts, and given where they are in the standings.

And apparently they WILL get an ESPN Sunday Night Baseball game, tomorrow vs. the Cards again, so they HAVEN'T been shut out of the National Broadcasts...so I get to see them again!

A great way to graduate (community) college, and transfer!

    When I left high school...

THAT was the summer of '09, and the first game I can remember after leaving--

The Mets getting absolutely PUMMELED by the Dodgers as I got badly sunburned at the beach with friends...and the game after that--Ollie Perez was rocked and blown out of the ballpark...the Mets imploded the next few years, and those friends and I don't talk anymore.

The first two games after leaving Community College--

The No-Hitter and Dickey's CG Shutout--LET IT BE SIGN OF GOOD THINGS TO COME!!!

    Let's Go Mets!

Here's hoping the next no hitter doesn't take 8,020 games!

    I'm with you.

Funny you say that, though. The Phillies hold the record for the longest time between no-nos. From one in 1906 until their next in 1964. And, as a trivial tidbit, both final scores were 6-0. Either way, let's hope the Mets come nowhere close to that. I don't wanna wait until I'm 106 years old.

First, I need to make a correction. They indeed aired it again today at noon EDT, but I was incorrect about the second encore. That will take place Monday night (June 4) at 7:30pm.

Anyway, Captain Mac, I wouldn't charge you a cent. That's not my style. The problem is, though, I tried to record it today at noon, and, as much as I hate to say it, I don't have a DVR (except on my computer, of course). After recording it today on VHS, the quality was simply not worth archiving even at 2-hour speed. I think the digital standards that have become mainstream have simply made VHS obsolete, and with good reason.

So, like everyone else, I'm gonna have to wait until it's released on DVD, which I'm sure will be only a matter of a short time. It'll be either on the 12-disc 50th anniversary DVD box to be released in September or on a single MLB disc of its own. At that time, I'll be more than happy to offer copies to anyone who asks, free of charge.

This may sound like a phony coincidence, but I do have first-hand testimony. After the top of the fourth, something inside me instinctively felt something stirring. I don't know why. After all, it's the Mets. However, I texted one of my childhood friends who today works in the front office at Madison Square Garden. The text read, "Johan is no-hitting thru 4." He wrote back, "Give me 8."

Now, he and I grew up together watching Met games, including the entire '86 postseason. He was now watching the game, and after a couple of messages back'n'forth regarding Santana's pitch count, I waited patiently and after the 24th out, I texted, "There's your 8."

He wrote back, "Fasten your seatbelt, Milla. We've never seen this before." Then the 9th unfolded and the rest is now history.

    One for the annals.

I admit when I am wrong......NO WAY does Santana get traded from the METS. I thought he was gone in July since he is pitching so well.....but I admit i was WRONG. There I said it.

How did Howie Rose call the final out of Friday's Johan Santana no-hitter?

MD: I totally agree here...Does anyone have Howie Rose's call of the 9th inning of Friday's Johan Santana no-hitter?
That should be great to listen to...I have only seen and heard Gary Cohen's TV call...
This is definitely to be a SNY Mets Classic for all time...LI MIKE

Everyone: I feel that this no-hitter should be dedicated also to all the Mets pitchers that have thrown one-hitters over time
beginning with Tom Seaver's almost perfect game of July 9,1969...I remember watching that game as a child with my family...

Johan Santana-no matter what happens during his Mets career-will always be remembered for this no-hitter and we all must
remember the other Mets players that helped make it happen with their fine play...I am in agreement with all here that the elusive
no-hitter has finally become a reality for the Mets-in their 50th Anniversary Year and we all celebrate...LI MIKE
