How about Jake Peavy? Should he be in the discussion of Comeback player of the year?
Hes 7-5 but with a 2.85 ERA and a 26/108 BB/K, and has 4 CG/ 1 SHO.
Its been a long way back for him, but looks like he may be the Jake Peavy of old.
If Dunn drops to below .200 he is not gonna win it, no matter how many homers he hits. He is also on pace for an amazing 260 strikeouts! This guy strikes out almost half the time he comes up.

The White Sox have 3 candidates for this award. I'd actually give it to Alex Rios right now. His line last season was .227/.265/.348 with 13 HR and 45 RBI. Throw in mediocre CF defense and he was just dreadful. I know Dunn hit .159 last year (.569 OPS too), but Rios is hitting .315/.348/.508, is playing terrific defense in RF, has really turned the power on recently, and can steal bases. Dunn is still only hitting .210, and despite the homers and walks he is on pace to obliterate the single-season strikeout record.

Joe Mauer might have a case. but after last year it looked like adam was dunn. Still, will anyone vote for a .208 hitter to win something? Jeter might get some support except he started his "comeback" half way through last season and has dipped since his start.

I'd definitely take Peavy over Pettitte. Either Peavy or Mauer.

He would need a huge second half. Despite a great start to the season, his overall numbers are now barely better than last season. His OPS+ is only up 6 points. If last night's game was any indication, his fielding is getting even worse. He was only credited with 1 error for the dropped pop up, but he very easily could have received another error on a ground ball he bobbled, and he had trouble with the glove-to-hand transfer on another play that most shortstops would have made. His 3 singles barely compensate for the three potential outs he cost his team in the field, two of which came around to score.
I'd vote for Jake Peavy. His record should be a lot better than 7-5 with the way he's pitched.
