--The Corsairs are disappointed to lose Ron Guidry, but at least it gets us the money to go after another quality player. Emerald City bid 14.5/4 years on Chet Lemon.

--Sad times in Emerald City as the best player in franchise history is apparently headed elsewhere. Unfortunately we couldn't afford a bigger offer to a player whose injuries make him a very questionable contributor this year.

I don't want to complain, but I'm very surprised that overbids for HTD players have started already. I did this last year and was told my bid was early and void. See Post #79 in the 1979-80 off season thread. This follows a couple of other related posts. Since the deadline for posting HTD bids is midnight tonight, I wish to suggest that all current overbids are invalid and cannot start until tomorrow morning, bright and early. I have been waiting for the deadline, but . . . .

    Not any more!

Also, I thought midnight Friday meant literally 12:00 Friday morning. I think the Jaxx' bid on Flanagan is invalid, but the rest should be okay.

Nope. Midnight Friday becomes 12:01AM SATURDAY morning. So: (1) I apologize, because I didn't recall that we couldn't top the HTD bid until after midnight tonight; (2) had I remembered that I would not have posted the Flanagan bid until then; (3) it would appear that Jack is correct and ALL of the HTD bids are invalid.

--It is true that in the past we have not allowed bids until after HTD bid deadline had passed. Since I didn't specially say that this year I let Lew's bid go and followed suit. Jack is correct though.
--The advantage gained by bidding early is small (you can be subsequently overbid by a mere 250K), but those with HTD options are actually entitled to adjust them until miodnight EST tonight. So not only are the above overbids invalid but if you got overbid by an early bird you can still raise the ante on your player.
