The Spiders didn't expect to compete much this season as they taylored their draft strategy to focus on future seasons - Starting with the trade for #3 pick Christy Matthewson.
Matthewson demonstrated his worth by leading the league in ERA, and coming in second in wins. Other than that there was not much to cheer about as the Spiders finished 53-93 (3rd worst record in baseball)
1902 should prove to be a better season as most of the team starts to come in their own. Stay tuned.
