I'm feeling you. Try a pair of five-year olds. I just sent them to my room to watch TV in there. Living room's mine.
The San Francisco Giants won the 2010 World Series and no one can ever take that away from me!

In 2012 they did it again. Nope, can't take that one away from me, either.

Spot on with the side notes comment. Rather than focus on the game or add some lighthearted comments like "he's got a lot in the tank and works many innings," I have to hear about how this guy has the most innings pitched since 2008 or is fifth n batting average this season.

Even worse, I can't stand listening to the announcers obsess over someone's career, throwing around the usual adjectives like "respect," "classy," and "great," all of which have lost meaning over the years.

And of course, I don't possess enough patience to watch everyone desperately struggle to keep their tongues raveled in their mouths as they talk about wonder boy Harper.

That felt really good. Kudos to anyone who lasted the entire post

I just wish somehow, I could watch the game with volume and NOT hear Buck and McCarver. I wish Fox would realize everyone hates them.

See Bautista's catch just now shows why the MLB All-Star game is better than any other sport's all-star contest. Players actually play defense in baseball.

The AL players don't look very serious. It's hard to see why fans should take this game seriously.

I sincerely doubt that I am the only one on this forum that thinks the ASG was better in the 70s and 80s.

Lots of folks complain how things were better back in the good old days. It's been a baseball tradition for over a hundred years to complain about the modern game. I think it's funny that many here at BBF extol the 1950's as some sort of Golden Age of Baseball yet I can find lots of quotes from old time ball players (Ty Cobb and Rogers Hornsby for example) who thought 1950's baseball sucked.

As for the 1970's-80's All-Star Game it had it's fair share of stinkers and yawners.

For me as a baseball fan the All-Star Game is a nice "distraction". I think it's cool to see all those different uniforms on the field at once (though I will say I liked it even better when they wore all those colorful uniforms in the 1970's). Plus we get to see all those great ballplayers at one time. The actual score is not so important to me. As long as the Giants players do well and not pull an Atlee Hammaker I am happy.

So thats why Verlander struggled. The Tony Romo/Jessica Simpson effect.

To the people who complain about the games not being close. I wonder how the run differential spread each game would compare to a random 83 game selection from a cross-section of different run-environment seasons (or from one moderate run environment season). I bet the spreads are extremely similar.
