A-Rod, A. Dunn soon to suffer 2000th Ks. - 8 Active soon to be at 1500 Ks.

Only four players have ever struck out 2,000 times but their ranks should increase by 50 per cent before the end of the 2012 season.
Alex Rodriguez, with 1996 Ks should reach that plateau momentarily and he should be joined by Adam Dunn, now with 1947 strike outs before the 2012 season is through.

    The top Six are currently:
    1. Reggie Jackson 2597
    2. Jim Thome 2523 (Active Leader - with a strong chance to become the all-time strikeout leader should he return to play the 2013 season).
    3. Sammy Sosa 2306
    4. Andres Galarraga 2003
    5. Alex Rodriguez 1996 (#2 Active)
    6. Adam Dunn 1949 (#3 Active)

Other Notable Active Players on the all-time strikeouts list.

    #15. all-time/#4. Active - Bobby Abreu 1809
    #23 all-time/#5. Active - Andruw Jones 1721
    #25. All-time/#6 Active - Derek Jeter 1705
    #52Tie All-time/ #7Tie Active - Jason Giambi 1500
    #52Tie All-time/#7Tie Active - Alfonso Soriano 1500

If Mark Reynolds can stick around for 5 or 6 more seasons, he should join be joining this group.
He has struck out in almost 1/3 of his PAs and in over 38% of his ABs.

I've said this before and I say it again. The 200K season will become common and no one will care. I am surprised that Reggie still has t he all-time record, though. I doubt Thome will catch him. A-Rod is the real oddball here . He's a career .301 hitter and his career high is "only" 139 strikeouts.

I cut the list off at 1500 strikeouts (top 8 active).
Pena is ninth among active players with 1410 Ks - 71st all-time..

That goes back all the way to Babe Ruth who lead the AL in strikeouts five times and was the all-time strikeout leader from 1928 until Mickey Mantle passed him in 1963.

Many people here will tell you that strikeouts don't matter, they are just another out. I am not one of them, however.
Averaging one home run every 10.61 at-bats throughout an entire career - an amazing stat that gets little respect, yet will NEVER be broken!
