Rockies to loose 100 games in 2012?

I'm getting a bad feeling about this. Time to start completely over I'm thinkin' and build a team around Tulo & Cargo. They used to be at least an exciting loosing team back when they began in 1993 . . . but now they are just flat and boring!

Tulo seems to be prone to injuries that keep him out of the lineup for months at a time, like this year. I like Tulo and think he's a tremendous player, but those injuries are a killer. Does he need a new trainer or something?

I've been watching this series against Milwaukee, and I think the Rockies will be able to avoid 100 losses this season. They have some good young players. If they could just get the pitching rotation set with some halfway decent pitchers, they wouldn't be that bad. And if Tulo comes back in September, I think they'll be above .500 for that month. If I lived in the Denver area, I would be going to a lot more games than I'm getting to here in North Texas. Number one, it wouldn't be 108 degrees every day when I stepped outside, and I could just go to the ballpark without any prior planning. The Rangers are doing so well on the field and at the ticket office that one can't just walk up and expect to be able to get tickets at the Ballpark in Arlington ticket windows any more. They will be shattering the club record for attendance this season. I've only been to four games here so far in 2012, and two of those were to see the Rockies play the Rangers.

I think they have a good chance of losing 100. Apparently Tulowitzki needs to back off the trainng. In fact I was thinking about Tulowitzki the other day. I'm not the GM, but I would offer Todd Helton the Golden Handshake, move Tulowitzki to first, and have Rutledge start at short stop. Just a thought.

As far as managerial positions are concerned, I think Jim Tracy is down the road this Fall, but I don't know who will take his place. I think the Monforts need to go outside the organization. A pipe dream would be Terry Francona, we'll see.

Take a good look (at Jim Tracy), you won't see him for long! (my play on Drew Goodman's homerun call...)

With tonight's 5-3 win over the Marlins, the Rockies are over .500 for the month of August just over halfway through the month. I still think they'll avoid that 100 loss mark...

The Rockies have 35 games left. To lose 100 for the season, they would have to go 10-25 or worse, and I don't think that will happen the way they are playing now. They just came off a 5-2 road trip. They could conceivably even avoid 90 losses with a really good run (21-14 or better), although I wouldn't put money on that. I would put money on them avoiding 100 losses though.

16 games left? They would have to go 4-12 to reach 100 losses. It is possible. This season has been an absolute cluster fudge.

No way, Jose. IMO Tulo is the best defensive SS there is... it's just a matter of staying healthy.

With 13 left, they only need go 4-9 . . . too bad . . . the worst finish for a Rockies team in their history is 67-95, in their first year '93 and again in '05 I believe . . .then they were 68-94 in '06. They'd need to go 9-4 just to "only match" their previous worst season record. Maybe next year . . . ;-)

Yeah, they had a pretty good August, but now they are having a dreadful September. Of course, still no Tulo and now no Cargo for a lot of the month. And after seeing the Rox play the Giants this week, I'm thinking they would have lost 150 games this year if they'd had to play San Francisco every game.

No Tulo . . . essentially no Cargo . . . and you are right on the their ability against the Gents . . . whatever they finish with this year looks to be one game poorer next year when they play 'em 19 games stead of the 18 this year.

You are right, he is a great defensive short stop, I'm thinking if you can keep him in the line up more playing first, then give him a shot. It is a matter of staying healthy.

The Rockies managed to get win number 63 last night, assuring themselves of finishing with fewer than 100 losses. But it has still been a disaster of a season.

Whewwwwww! That was too close for comfort! Last week when they got to 62-94, I thought, "no way will they loose 100, with 6 games left" . . . then they get swepted by the Dodgers . . . Still only 2 MLB teams who have never lost 100 games in any season . . . LA Angels and Colorado Rockies. FTR, the franchise who has had the most 100 loss seasons are Philadelphia/Kansas City/Oakland A's. Odd how that works considering the success of the A's in the past 40 years.

Close it was. It will be interseting to see what the make-up of the team will be next year. First base is certainly an issue. Harold Reynolds answered Dan Patrick yesterday, when Patrick asked who would be Jeter's replacement in New York, with Tulowitzki. Yes he has a ten year contract, but don't think the graduate of Fremont High won't trade Rockies pinstripes for Yankee pinstripes if the visions of World Series are dancing in his head. (Though, this is a couple of years down the road.)

Second base has been an ongoing issue.

A lot of work to do in the front office.
