New to the forum and here to learn more about the giants ny roots

Hey guys, I'm new to the board. I've been lurking around here for a little. I am a younger sf Giants fan but I've found my self being drawn more and more to the history of the giants and the team's New York roots, and have been drawn to the teams of the 50s, teams that I wasn't even alive to see. I feel it's really important to keep the memories of the New York years alive and feel like the giants do a decent job of it today.

I do have to say I've really enjoyed reading the threads on the board from the past years and have learned a lot and look forward to chatting with you all and learning even more about your beloved jints.*

Thanks for your interest of the team's days in New York- the team had such a rich history there and I'm glad you've enjoyed reading about some of it it from us.

BTW, did you know your screen name was the nickname given to the Giants' Triple A team in Jersey City, NJ in the forties and very early fifties? Bobby Thomson, Monte Irvin, and Hank Thompson were among the many Giants' players who played there for the Little Giants.

Thanks fellas for the response. And reading through the discussions and stories you guys have told, I did learn about the jersey city giants And that's what helped pick my name.
I've been wearing my ny giants American needle hat, which I now have learned has the wrong NY on it (thanks zig!), but I've found it sparks conversation and gives me a chance to let people know that, yes the giants have a very rich and successful history in New York city.

I know that the Cooperstown ball cap company is long out of business's, but is there another site other than eBay to get a more accurate new York giants cap?

    Thanks for the suggestion!
Looking at the site it looks like it's underconstruction, would you know if I would need to have one customized or if the would eventually have them on their site?
    Sorry for all the questions

To learn Giants history from New York City, there's one name that will preside over all others: John McGraw.

The Zig talked me into a Giants cap. Wore it in NY and it definitely started a few conversations, got some looks from older people as well who recognized the cap.

The more I read about the ny giants the more I learn about him. What a character, who wouldve thought after all these years that he would still be the winningest manager in giants history and one of the top in the majors (granted he did mange the giants for 30 years). It's a shame the man isn't talked about more. Before I started reading about the team's ny past I never heard much about John McGraw.

Congrats to the GIANTS. 19th pennant in the modern era...14 of which were in the POLO GROUNDS. In 2010, they brought the WS trophy back to Manhattan. Hope they do it again.
