Why Can't The Sox Beat Kansas City?

The Sox have lost 12 games to the Royals this season. The Royals have won five of the six series against the Sox this year. The Royals are 13 games behind in the standings, so evidently other teams can beat them, but for years, they've given us fits. I don't get it. Thank God we're done with them for the season.

The Sox can't beat KC for the exact same reason the Tigers can't beat the Twins. It's the AL Central inverse square law. The Tigers can usually beat the White Sox on any given day. It's when they go against Twins and Indians pitchers with E.R.A.s over 5 that it really gets tough. Exactly WHY this happens, I couldn't say. The Tigers feature Jhonny Peralta in their lineup everyday who can't bunt, hit or spell, so that's a starting point for investigation.

I'm not sure which Sox player is responsible for opening the vortex, as I don't watch them everyday. Just sayin' I've noticed this phenomenon.

On a side note, the Sox are certainly being courteous to let the Tigers have a chance at taking the title. The Tigers, magnanimous creatures that they are, wouldn't think of it. "After you" they're saying, as they politely nod to the White Sox and gesture toward the champagne buckets. Chivalry is not dead.
