Because it's the exact same situation.

Player joins new team late in the season. Performs much better than he was expected. People say it's because he's much happier on the new team and expect his performance to continue the next season.

    With Barajas, it certainly didn't.

Of course, one instance doesn't prove anything.

Just because something can't be quantified doesn't mean it's nonexistent.

        Which split?
You indicated it but ignored it and pretended that the ghost of Suzuki was the one time MVP.

I stand corrected on the splits. I had read how they got much worse. Really not that bad. 80 wRC+ vs. 97 wRC+. He is pretty equal opportunity garbage.

Assuming he plays 150+ games next year, can I have your predictions on stats?

            Ooh, lemme try:

            Assuming 600 AB

            .266/.302/.358, 160 hits, 6 HR, 22 doubles, 5 triples, 74 runs scored, 37 RBI, 25 stolen bases, 8 caught stealing.

I only agree with the stolen bases. Remember, he hit 5 home runs for the Yankees in less than half a season, you think will only hit 6? Anyway, my prediction:

.317/.359/.430 203 hits, 11 home runs, 3 triples, 30 doubles, 25 stolen bases, and I'll go with your 8 caught steeling as well. I'm not gonna predict runs and RBI until I know where he's hitting. Is he in the 1/2 spot, or is he hitting 7/8/9?

So do I! I dislike Ichiro, but as long as he's a Yankee I hope he succeeds.

Not to me, but I have always disliked him since he put his first name on his Seattle jersey. Way to me for my taste. Plus even in his prime he was terribly overrated.

I accept that you have low expectations for him, but just 12 walks? If that's the case, his OBP would not be 45 points higher than his BA.

You know the origin of this in Japan was not his choice, right? As for wearing his first name in the US, I'm actually very surprised MLB allowed it. I'm not sure if this was Ichiro's idea or Seattle marketing dept. Regardless, I thought it was an incredibly gutsy move by Ichiro. By doing something so bold, he absolutely had to succeed; failure was not an option.

He was quite a player in his prime, peaking out at 9 WAR, I don't think he was overrated.

This makes no sense. For him to have an isolated discipline of 45 points while drawing only 12 BB, he would have to be limited to about 180 ABs. And if he hits 12 dongs in about 180 ABs, his slug will be much higher than .375.
