Barry Bonds sparked the evolution of the Giants into the strong franchise that they became once they moved into AT&T Park. It would be entirely appropriate for his importance to the franchise that he throw out the first ball.
Additionally, it would be great fodder for BBF!

I gotta admit I respect the opinion and also feel the Giants fans would be lit up by this but in a way it would make the Giants look like a joke to the rest of the nation.

There's two answers to this....1) you are right, Giants fans are the only ones who would appreciate it, but he's our guy and we don't really care what the rest of the country thinks and Barry certainly doesn't care. And 2) Nobody would see it anyway since Fox rarely shows the first pitch , so the potential embarrassment is pretty small

I'm not a Giants fan, but I am rooting for them and I idolize Bonds. He did so much for you, how could you possibly not like him?

The one good thing is the giants might clinch in motorcity. I don't expect the Tiger's to ask Bonds to throw out a first pitch, so this year, at least, we lucked out.

I'm not sure I understand. The series went 4 games, not 5. And if it had gotten to 7 games, why do you think /bonds would have thrown it?
