Quite the shock this morning to hear the Cardinals are introducing an alternate uniform. In addition, they have made "substantive" changes to their home and away jerseys. I prefer to leave well-enough alone, but I guess the Cardinals have decided they need some extra money in their pockets..

I like the off-white color, and the piping down the front. Cant say I like putting the city name instead of the team name on a home jersey.They call me Mr. Baseball. Not because of my love for the game; because of all the stitches in my head. -

May I ask why a Cardinals uniform article got moved to the Cardinals section, but the Astros uniform/logo, etc topic did not? Just wondering is all..Mike Hopper

Looks like the non-alts will be virtually the same.
I think they'd look better if they went with the piping as the 1940s-era Cards unis were.

The other big change, not mentioned, is that the red caps and belts will now be worn on the road. The all-navy road cap will be used only occasionally.I see great things in baseball. It's our game - the American game.

I never understood the "rule" that a road uniform must have the city instead of the team name--especially since...

The idea is that the home fans identify the players with the team persona while the road fans recognize them as the 'other.' Obviously it's a convention that has never been universally applied. There's nothing wrong with having team names on both, nor for that matter with having city or location on both, as Texas does now; that's just presenting a consistent face for both sets of fans. But it's odd to have a home jersey with a city name and a road jersey with a team name.Originally posted by jnakamura View PostComment
