What a terrible trade for the Mariners. Jaso is a good player, younger, cheaper than Morse. I thought Seattle fired Bill Bavasi years ago, Zduriencik doesn't have a clue. Oakland is getting a good player in John Jaso, the Mariners get another immobile DH. Unbelievable. Fire Wedge, fire Zduriencik.
Confusing.
Are the Mariner's trying to put together the worst defensive team in history? How far are they moving the walls in? To second base?
This looks like they could be fielding:
Raul Ibanez (RF)
Jason Bay (LF)
Michael Morse (1B)
Kendrys Morales (DH)
Jesus Montero (C)
Everyone one of those guys is best suited to DH. None may want to but wow. Felix is not going to be a happy monarch.
Red Sox and Mike Napoli have finally agreed to a deal. Looks to be for only one year as opposed to the original 3 year / $39 one mentioned in December. Issues came up during his physical concerning his hip.

What do the Rockies see in Volstad?
Ignoring his ERA and wins and losses, Volstad is a sinkerball pitcher with low strikeout rates, a 2012 BABIP of .315 and pitching in Coors Field, which is a pitcher-hostile ballpark.

Ground balls are good.
The lack of strikeouts isn't.
It's not like the Rockies are brimming with starting pitching options.
