Saw that on mlb trade rumors thought Jaso was good for the M's last year.

Agreed. I even was on their board making points why he should hit higher in the lineup fulltime based on his OBP. I'm not sure Morse is the answer there, but they're desperate for some type of power/production.

What a terrible trade for the Mariners. Jaso is a good player, younger, cheaper than Morse. I thought Seattle fired Bill Bavasi years ago, Zduriencik doesn't have a clue. Oakland is getting a good player in John Jaso, the Mariners get another immobile DH. Unbelievable. Fire Wedge, fire Zduriencik.

Yeah, Jaso was Seattle's best hitter last year. Jaso drew more walks in August than Morse did all year. Horrible trade for Seattle.

The Nationals are the favorite in the NL East. Every non-Natonals fan knows it.
I only have them about 2 games over the Phillies. They need every additional win they can get. Soriano is about a 1 WAR pitcher.

    Confusing.

Are the Mariner's trying to put together the worst defensive team in history? How far are they moving the walls in? To second base?

This looks like they could be fielding:

    Raul Ibanez (RF)
    Jason Bay (LF)
    Michael Morse (1B)
    Kendrys Morales (DH)
    Jesus Montero (C)

Everyone one of those guys is best suited to DH. None may want to but wow. Felix is not going to be a happy monarch.

Red Sox and Mike Napoli have finally agreed to a deal. Looks to be for only one year as opposed to the original 3 year / $39 one mentioned in December. Issues came up during his physical concerning his hip.

Have to wonder just how serious those issues are for him to accept that contract.

True. He apparently could still field offers over the past month, but I guess no other team offered anything better.

    Probably lower

All his ERA estimators for last season had him giving up between 4.5 and 5 runs.

What do the Rockies see in Volstad?

Ignoring his ERA and wins and losses, Volstad is a sinkerball pitcher with low strikeout rates, a 2012 BABIP of .315 and pitching in Coors Field, which is a pitcher-hostile ballpark.

He's been a 1-2 win pitcher for 3 of his 5 seasons in the majors. They can sign him to a minor league contract.

He's probably not a great fit for Coors field.
    Ground balls are good.
    The lack of strikeouts isn't.

It's not like the Rockies are brimming with starting pitching options.

Phillies ink Delmon Young to a one-year, incentive-laden deal for $750K with a max payout of around $3.5M if all incentives are reached. He's likely to play RF in a platoon with Domonic Brown.

Seems like a good deal for the Phillies. His defense is a question mark though.

Where does Michael Bourn end up? His options are shrinking.
