Seattle Mariners - Back To The Future

No more generic button-front jerseys. Re-introduce v-neck pullover jerseys and sansabelt pants. It's time to unretire the Seattle Mariners' 1981-1986 uniforms and wear them full-time once again. The colors are great. They're unique. They have that rare combination of being both retro and contemporary! They're the Seattle Mariners and not anyone else.

The Seattle Mariners' 1981-1986 uniforms were/are so great, they even make a guy like Jack Cust look good.

    Mariners Blue and Gold

We want the return of the blue and gold. It's time to embrace the origins of Mariner baseball. Dream it all up again. Navy, silver and teal had a good, long run, but it's time to go back. Go back to progress forward. The time is now.

Those M's uniforms from the 1987-1992 era were dog ugly... Wouldn't mind seeing the old trident make a comeback...

Look, it's not like I don't like the current colors or uniforms, I recently purchased a low crown 59Fifty New Era Seattle cap for myself. It's good. But the current navy-dominated uniforms, to me have become too formal looking. If I'm wearing a suit, odds are it's going to be navy. The Mariners should go back to their pre-'93 colors. They should also replace Safeco's dark green seats with blue ones. Perhaps something similar to CenturyLink Field.

Can we agree that Mariners should permanently retire their teal tops? They were awful in 1994, and they're still awful now.

    Never Forget

Justin Smoak needs to adopt the Ichiro-look and trash the stirrups.

The Trident would be better. The '87-'92 set was way too generic and boring looking. Plus the font sucked. The '77 unis were cool as hell.

I HATE the teal, always have, bad 80's fashion reminder, needs to die. Not in love with the gold either BUT I do like the Trident. Maybe we could do blue, white and a primary/forest green with the Trident.

The current uniforms have become too formal, too corporate, too conservative, prone to be ripped off, see Tampa Bay. It's time to embrace color, bring back the fun and euphoria of the blue and gold. Stand out and defeat the conformists. What's old is new again!

Royal blue and gold would be ideal. Respect the heritage.Tridents forever!

    1977 home jersey

The '77 home uniforms looked pretty good. Seattle wore them at least twice, in 1997 and as pictured below in 2007. I could get used to those, even though they're inferior to the 1981-1986 uniforms. One major difference between 1997 and 2007 was that the '97 throwbacks had pants with elastic waistbands, with three stripes (blue, gold, blue) like the '77 originals. The '07 pants had belts.

The trident cap was awesome so that would make a welcome comeback but I do prefer the design of the current uniforms. How about the current uniforms but with different colours (blue and yellow, as you suggest)?

By the way, no team looks good in teal!

    Blue and Gold Forever!

Former M's ace Mark Langston waves to the Safeco crowd after throwing out the first pitch before a game last June. Notice the '81-'86 home M's jersey. Blue and Gold are Mariners colors!

    Everett Aquasox

In 2011, the Everett Aquasox held a "Mariners" day. They wore jerseys inspired obviously by the original Mariners home jersey ('77-'80). Blue and gold. It's a good look.
