I look at this Ken Griffey Jr. Seattle Mariners jersey and I wonder, what if? What might have been? Why couldn't they have? So many questions and so little answers. Another example on how tradition is messing the game up. You wish you could go back to 1987 and tell the Mariners, 'No, that (button-front jersey and belted pants) isn't necessary' Where was that person? Those are the things I wonder about.

I've seen these around and wondered why there's no number on the front. A Ken Griffey Jr. retro 1977 Seattle Mariners jersey. The real jerseys had numbers on the front but the jersey sold doesn't. That seems odd. Ken Griffey Jr. did indeed wear a 1977 Seattle Mariners jersey and uniform in a game in 1997 at the Kingdome. Creative licensing issues?

I found this Ichiro 1977 Seattle Mariners jersey on ebay, and it includes a number on the front, so I still find it strange that the Griffey 1977 Mariners jersey does not.

I was always fond of the Seattle Mariners' 1977-1980 home uniform. It was a thing of beauty that provided inspiration to people worldwide. I've stated previously my views on the Mariners' 1981-1986 uniforms. Right now, I would like a uniform that is a combination of those two uniforms. You would have the '77-'80 home jersey, but with the 1981-1986 script, wordmark or whatever you call it. The Mariners' 1977-1980 pants had no trim or stripes to speak of, so I would use the 1981-1986 sansabelt pants with the great tri-striped waistband. That would be a uniform if worn today, would be without a doubt the best in the game. It would be outstanding in navy and 'Northwest green' as well as the original blue and gold. Take note Kevin Martinez, (https://twitter.com/kevin_martinez) this concerns you.

A couple shots of Floyd Bannister and Bruce Bochte in 1980 from http://1978theyearitallbegan.blogspot.com
If that doesn't bring a smile to your face, you're not alive.
However supplant the 1977-1980 script with 1981-1986 script.
As I said before, replace the 1977-1980 sansabelt pants with the 1981-1986 sansabelt pants that have the stripes on the side.
Yet another possibility on creating the 'Ultimate Baseball Look' for the Seattle Mariners!

I guess the correct term would be a composite. If someone is feeling creative, they could create a new Seattle Mariners uniform that would be a composite of the 1977-1980 Seattle Mariners uniform and the 1981-1986 Seattle Mariners uniform based on the suggestions I provided. That would be sweet. If the Michigan Wolverines can wear a v-neck pullover jersey and sansabelt baseball pants part-time in 2013, the Seattle Mariners can wear v-neck pullover jerseys and sansabelt baseball pants full-time in 2014 through eternity!

I've noticed the similarities between the v-neck pullover warmup NBA Adidas shirt worn by the Heat and Spurs and the Seattle Mariners' 1981-1986 jerseys. They both have the stripes on the shoulders and sleeves.

Contact these guys and tell them you want to see the Mariners once again wear updated versions of their 1981-1986 uniforms, either with a navy and teal scheme or the original blue and gold!

Can you imagine the Seattle Mariners once again wearing an updated version of their 1981-1986 uniforms? Let's hope Kevin Martinez and Gregg Greene do as well.
1981 Seattle Mariners. 1982 Seattle Mariners. 1983 Seattle Mariners. 1984 Seattle Mariners. 1985 Seattle Mariners. 1986 Seattle Mariners. Seattle Mariners uniforms!

Seattle Mariners: Back to the Future.
Seattle Mariners retro. Seattle Mariners throwbacks. Seattle Mariners modern.
This is about updating that classic Seattle Mariners look we all want to see again! Just use the trim around the neck the 1977-80 home jersey had on these uniforms and then we'll be able to enjoy what we see on the field. Athletes wear pullover jerseys!
1985 Seattle Mariners.
1986 Seattle Mariners
1981-86 Seattle Mariners
Future Seattle Mariners

The return of the satin baseball jacket is also a part of the Seattle Mariners: Back to.the Future movement. Bring them back to dugouts and ballparks please.
Either how they looked originally.
or a satin version of this, with the star trident logo displayed prominently.

I hope we don't have to wait until 2015 for the Mariners to wear an updated (navy & teal) version of their 1981-1986 uniforms, think 1985. Remember in Back to the Future 2 they go ahead in time to the year 2015. Keep pushing this to happen.

'Guys Night Out' promo
This retro/contemporary t-shirt was part of a Mariners promotion August 24! We're getting there. Perhaps there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

The jersey Hendu wore as a Mariner looked good from 1981-1986 and it looked good last year, pictured below, it will look good in 2014 and beyond! Do your part, tell the Mariners you want to see it again! What's old is new again!

The Mariners current uniforms are garbage. The goal is too unretire the uniforms they wore from 1981-1986, or to narrow it down 1985 & 1986. The most I would compromise is new uniforms that are a composite of the Mariners 1985 & 1986 uniforms and the retro uniforms the Everett AquaSox wore in a game in 2011. The Mariners, under any of my proposals would indeed look good in navy & teal, while reserving the blue and gold uniforms for Sunday games. Teal, when used correctly, which, with my proposals, it would be, can be a great thing.

I have an idea on how to deal with Majestic's infamous oversized jerseys. With the jersey's v-neck, I would add a wishbone collar. Now a wishbone collar on basketball jerseys is not a feature I like, but next to a crewneck pullover, this is the only way I could think of on how to deal with the overly low cut of a Majestic v-neck pullover jersey. In the new space created by the addition of a wishbone collar, I would add a logo, possibly the trident-star logo, which I would make official again. It would also provide some contrast between the ribbing of the v-neck and the undershirt, which would be the same color. Imagine that feature, when looking at this picture of Ichiro.

Seattle Mariners need to wear their 1981-1986 home uniform again! The Seattle Mariners need to wear their 1985 & 1986 road uniform again! Seattle Mariners: Back to the Future!
