    Angels caps

The one, second from right, is the best.

Is it acceptable for someone who would consider themself a baseball fan, to wear the cap of team other than the one he/she roots for, for fashion? I don't know, I can't picture myself wearing a Washington Nationals cap.

    Interesting question.

I have about a half dozen Cardinals caps in the regular rotation and have owned too many others to count during my years. My teenage kids and younger son have them as well. Wife too.

I also have a 1944 home St.Louis Browns cap from Cooperstown Ballcap Co which might be the best of all. The only other baseball caps have ever had were from coaching my kids' teams. I don't wear them anymore except for the minor league caps, and then usually to mow the lawn, do yard work, or just around the house during a lazy morning. The Owls cap (red, no idea what city or MLB club affiliation) is a favorite. It's a great looking cap.

I had a Yankees cap when I was about 13. I have always admired their history and it was the first fitted cap I bought with my own money. It's around here somewhere. My uncle, a St Louisan wbo grew up in the 50's/60's who wears caps because he likes the look of them, gave me a Phillies cap years ago. I wore it because it was fitted. They were rarer then.

I'm buying a New York Giants cap soon. I adore the Polo Grounds and it's rich rich history but I am not a fan of the SF Giants at all. In fact, they may be my least liked team in MLB. Sure, they have beaten the Cards lately but that is not the reason. My posts in the area of PED's are more indicative but lets not go there here. The black and orange one is the classic NY/ Polo Grounds Giants cap and is the most recognizeable, but the blue and white ones from the 40's and earlier would work well when coaching my sons Little League team this year - the Mets.

Edit - as I thought about it more, I have purchased a few others. An Orioles cap.. A white one with black bill, nothing worn on the field, but it looked nice. I was about to attend two games at Camden Yards. Ripken's 2,130 and 2,131st. Yep, I was there.

I also once owned a Brooklyn Dodgers white with blue pinstripes fitted. 30's I think.

I do too. I like to match my hats with my undershirts and watches. I will buy a snazzy looking hat if I like it even if I am neutral on the team. I will not buy a sports hat of a team I dislike, however.

I also have a hat wall, with old and nastalgic hats. I will buy hats just for the wall that do not have to be a team that I really like.

I see as many people in the Mil stands wearing their old-school stuff as the new stuff. Changing back seems like it would be profitable.

This is why I will never buy a cards cap or yankees cap

Thank God there's a thread for caps and apparel.

I love wearing caps, especially fitted ones. My issue is I am 42 years old and I have a head size under 7". My head is too small for a 6 7/8 and too big for a 6 3/5. Usually, and I am ashamed to admit this, I have to buy a youth cap, which usually fits. I will buy a small, if the cap has letter sizes as well. Because of this problem, I have missed out on some of the special caps the teams wear, like the 4th of July/Memorial Day caps or the World Series caps.

Not a fan of New Era because their crowns look huge on me, like I'm Elmer Fudd or something. I won't wear snapbacks for that same reason. Love Twin Enterprise/47 brand caps and I will wear an adjustable with a velcro strap. Been eyeing a 47 Brand pinstripe throwback Yankees cap.

I'm also a fan of the Satin jackets that were popular back in the day. Had my Yankees jacket when I was in high school and was thinking of grabbing one off eBay.

For the record, I too am a fan of the Mariners Trident and Brewers old school glove and ball cap.

New Era makes a low crown version of their 59Fifty cap. American Needle caps have a fairly low crown. I had to return a 47 Brand MVP adjustable cap because I thought the crown was too high and the Franchise caps have no crown at all.

Doesn't the crown grow back to the original size after awhile?

It's too much work, removing material, plus New Era's caps are now polyester instead of wool anyway.

    Rainiers/Tigers

A strange sight in Tacoma tonight. The Tacoma Rainiers are having a 'Throwback Weekend' and they are wearing the uniform and caps of the Tacoma Tigers. You have a Mariners Triple-A affiliate basically wearing the colors of Oakland.
