Matter of time till he's unaffordable, but it would be great to see if he can win another Cy Young![]()

It's a one year deal for about $10 million.

He was gonna get at least $9.5-10M in arbitration, but you never know how the arbitrator will rule, if he and his agent asked for $15M. This way the cost is controlled and the team knows now what they have left to spend in free agency.
They should of just signed him to a 3-4 year deal in all honesty
He's in rare air as so far as having a CYA with two years left of arbitration. He's also a lefty, which adds to his value. A 3-4 year deal buys out his remaining two years of arb but has to be tasty enough for him not to look forward to a huge payday following 2015. It also eats into his 30 year ages and that can be a turnoff if he's not able to reach FA until 32 or so compared to hitting it at 30 years old.

We already lost a former #1 SP in Shields, and Price will probably be gone within 2 years. Either other guys need to step up, someone emerges from AA and takes the reins, or we trade for a top pitching prospect, or what's kept this team in contention the last few years with limited offensive help will all have been for naught...
