    Down At The Farm: 2014

For all discussions related to anything at the Minor League Levels.
"After my fourth season I asked for $43,000 and General Manager Ed Barrow told me, 'Young man, do you realize Lou Gehrig, a 16-year-man, is playing for only $44,000?' I said, Mr. Barrow, there is only one answer to that - Mr. Gehrig is terribly underpaid."- Yankees outfielder Joe DiMaggio

Jose Campos (of the Montero-Pineda trade fame) successfully had Tommy John surgery on Friday.

Last year in spring training, Ronnier Mustelier was like Yangervis Solarte this year. He was very close to making last year’s opening day roster until a knee injury derailed that train. The Yankees released him and activated reliever Jose Ramirez off the DL.

Injuries limited Mustelier to just 84 games last year where he had .272/.319/.398 slash line with seven homers and 39 RBI. This year, in 13 games, he had a .314/.340/.373 line with three RBI. He had only been playing outfield and DH so far this year, after playing in 41 games at third base last season.

Ronnie spent 8 seasons within the Yankees system: .306/.356/.812 - 25HR/140RBI

I really thought he was going to make the team out of Spring Training last season and this season, but it just didn't happen. The guy should be able to find a home some place and quick, may even help a MLB team out.

Jose Ramirez has been moved to the bullpen permanently since he can't stay healthy, and we may we see him in the Bronx this season.

This thread has been dead. But Rob Refsnyder just got promoted to AAA. If he continues to hit the way he has been we could see him in NY sooner than later.

This seems to push Pirella to a utility role and CoJo to ???

Personally I would like to see Pirella get a shot and cut Roberts.

so it looks like everyone except for the Dominican League teams are going to miss the playoffs. But they did announce the Arizona Fall league spots today and its going to be Tyler Austin, Eric Jagielo, Aaron Judge, Greg Bird and so far unnamed catcher for the position players and pitchers Caleb Cotham, Branden Pinder and Alex Smith.
Lets Go Yankees, Valley Cats, Dutchmen, UT Spartans and ECU Pirates.

The Yankees will take over the Advanced Rookie team in Pulaski, VA next year. The Appalachian League team had previously been affiliated with the Mariners.
