    M's 2017 Spring Training

Well, the M's started off their Spring Training as always against the Padres and did it in fine fashion as they took the first win with a score of 13-3.

Jarrod Dyson the speedster from KC lead off and did well in the game getting on base twice and successfully stole a base (something he can do as he has a career 85% success rate). It is nice to see some movement on the basepaths as a possibility again, especially at the top of the order.

Segura batted 2nd and scored along with Dyson in the first on Nelson Cruz's HR!

Those were the first runs of the game and the only runs until the 4th inning when Weber allowed 3 Padres runs to tie it up.

Luckily the Mariner's were not content to sit there scored an additional 10 runs from there to the end of the game and shut down the Padres the rest of the way.

Ariel Miranda started the game for the Seattle with an efficient 2 scoreless innings with only a sole hit as a blemish against his record.

Other highlights include Guillermo Heredia coming in to replace Martin in center field, going 3-3 with 2 doubles, 3 RBI and a stolen base of Home!

Well, game 2 of the Cactus League goes as well as game 1 with a 13-2 win again over the Padres.

Cruz went 2-2 with another HR in his first AB of the game.any

I do realize that a lot of the game outcome came to the 14 walks the M's received today and the early pitching that we are feasting on but still enjoying it.

Ben Gamel gave up the only runs to the opposition (1 in the 5th and 1 in the 6th), the rest of the pitchers were great with none of them giving up more than a single hit. What amazes me more though is that for the 14 walks we got, we did not give up any ourselves. In fact, we did not give up any walks yesterday either.

Felix came back for his first start since the WBC and had a masterful start for the M's last night! Seattle took the game as Felix had only a double in the 4th inning as a blemish on his record for the night. He needed only 73 pitches to cover his 6 innings of work with 5 SO and no walks along the way. He was a groundout machine with 8 of them versus only 1 flyout.

Giants' pitching surely helped along the way as they issued 6 walks, one balk and 5 Wild Pitches. SF did manage a couple runs late in the game, but nothing touching the 9 runs that Seattle scored. Would have really loved to have been at that game!
