At the current rate (50+ frequency during the last 10 seasons) it will take THIRTY YEARS to equal the 18 achieved during rampant PED use.
Sure was a crazy time when SS and 2Bmen were hitting 50+ and 40+ respectively. Who would have thought that those guys would be leading their team (if not the league) in HRs? I know Hornsby hit a ton for a while in the '20s, but that era has it's own thread discussing that insanity. I used to think Rico Petrocelli was really something for his 40 HR as a SS, but then A-Rod started hitting 50+ a year. Kinda drowns out what Vern Stephens, Rico, and Cal Ripken had done previously.
