I can't see this as being a good thing for the average income fan despite them saying that ticket prices in the out field will go down.

Here's an artist's rendition on what the Coliseum will look like beginning next season.
Well, they exceeded their new limit last year only 19 out of 81 home games. They can save money by staffing the third deck with less secruity, less vendors, less clean up time, and everything else that goes into maintaining that level. They have just become more efficient in their staduim operations and better marketing of their remaining seats.
Perfection is not attainable. But, if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence. -- Vince Lombardi
This is just the precursor to the club moving. That way, the front office can say, "Hey, nobody is showing up, we need a new stadium!"

You can have the capacity at 24,000 and you still will not sell out.
Only time the staduim is packed (For Oakland Standards) is when the Giants, Red Sox, Yankees or Angels come in.

The saviors
Jered Weaver 3-0 with a 1.86 ERA and a Sub 1 WHIP with 17K to 3Walk ratio
Kendry Morales 279 AVG 3 HR'S 11 RBI
Mike Napoli 323 AVG 4HR'S 11 RBI
It's funny how they left out of that picture the dozens of "marketing opportunities" that will also be on those tarps as the club has said.Originally Posted by Chisox73

Their new stadium will carry 35 000????
I thought that was a low number for baseball????? It means that this new stadium would hold as much as Fenway????

REMEMBER THE EXPOS
This is just like in Montreal a couple of years back...
They closed the upper deck, and financed for a new downtown stadium. Unfortunatly, the new stadium was not built, our owner left the city, ans so do the Expos.....
REMEMBER THE EXPOS
instead of the obvious visual blight, couldn't they have kept things internal? that is, seal off the stairs and ramps that lead to the upper deck? the rendering makes the coliseum look absolutely horrible.
is brass really counting on ads, of all things, to spruce the place up?

when the giants get bussed in, attendance swells to 48-56,000.
does anyone know if the top deck is gonna be opened for sf, boston, ny series?

The A's drew 2.1M last year, so they can hardly say "no one is coming". I think they are plainly saying the cost/aggravation of having that deck open for 19 games more than offsets the revenue gain.
