8-2 in our last 10 games, way to go! Ol' Codfish may not be fired after all. The Skipjacks are actually gaining ground on the Gamblers.
Anyways, we have a trade:
The Skipjacks send P Don Lee to the Hard Cider for P Billy Pierce. Lee has done a fantastic job for T. D. Dum's team but is about used up in IP. Pierce is a lateral move for '62-'63 but will be a stellar reliever in his role for us in '64.
Mac, please confirm.
Mark and Lew, Pierce will take Lee's place in the rotation.

Finished another week in OOTP. That brings everyone to at least 100 games played.
INJURIES: Nothing major. Ellie Howard had a 3 day, dtd injury. Jack Kralick had a 5 day, dtd.
NEWS: 7-28: Harvey Haddix fired a two hit shutout in the LEgends 1-0 win over the Redbirds. Juan Pizarro was the tough luck loser, giving up only 4 hits in 8.2 innings of work. He forced the only run home with a bases loaded walk to Don Buddin the eighth inning.
7-30: Frank Robinson drove in 7 runs, tying the league record, in a 16-10, 10 inning slugfest against the Skipjacks.
7-31: Three Quakers hurlers combined for a three hitter in a 3-0 whitewashing of the Redbirds.
8-1: Hard Cider pitcher Sandy Koufax tossed a three hit shutout at the Skipjacks, winning 9-0.
Pitcher of the Month for July: Juan Pizarro of the Redbirds. He had a record of 4-1 in 5 games started, with an ERA of 0.86 and a no hitter.
Batter of the Month for July: Frank Robinson of the Hard Cider. He batted .326 in 92 AB, with 6 homers and 37 RBI.
Player of the Week: The Knights' Eddie Mathews. He batted .500 in 26 AB, with 3 HR and 6 RBI.
On August 2nd, Del Rice decided to retire. I had to reimport him from the database!
Stats will be up shortly, along with photos for the Redbirds. That is the last non-doormat team to get the photos uploaded!

--Another series in the books. The Legends are starting to play down to pre-season expectations, dropping 7 of 10 to fall 2 games back of the Quakers. The Cannon swept the Senators to regain the lead in the WC race. The HC have Berra eligible eligible to return from the DL - only to lose Mantle.
--Games will pause for 2 days to give time for any deadlines deals to be consumated. All deals must be posted and confirmed by midnight EST on Monday.

--I was pretty sure going in that the Knights would be a great offensive team. The have exceeded even my highest expectations though, with an OPS over 900 and an average of 7.77 (talk about lucky) runs per game. The only things I can think of to explain it is that the guys are feeding off each other (there are no weak links in the lneup), Tiger Stadium is a better hitters park than some of these players actual ones and all the parks in my division are hitter friendly (The Gamblers apparently will be moving to more of a pitchers park next year though).
--Gentile is the only hitter due for a significant drop off in 1962. I had been planning to non-tender him (and maybe resign him for less than his scheduled 7.25M), but he has been so tremendous I think I'll have to hang on to him. Even if his OPS drops by nearly a third (like his real life OPS+) that would have him around 900!

I have uploaded the majority of player photos for the doormats now. They should be online next time I upload stats. There were a few I couldn't find, but because they were very minor players on the doormats, I really didn't try very hard.
I also took the liberty of whipping up logos for the Quakers and Diablos. Nails and EH, if you don't want me to use them, let me know, but I just got tired of seeing that empty corner every time I was working on your guys' teams, reading emails, etc. The logos are below.

--Mac, Davis was in the minors so you'll need to send someone down (or DL mantle) to make room before he can be added to your active roster/lineup.
--Scott, file is on the way. This probably makes you a tougher competitor in the the divsion as early as next year. Really puts a damper on your WC chances for this year though.

Scott - I made the adjustments in OOTP, but it looks like you must have added a couple of players and not posted, or I missed it. I don't have Carl Warwick on your roster, and in fact I only show 38 players on your roster. I double checked the roster in the roster thread but that wasn't any help. Obviously you picked up Warwick for 250K, so I added him. That only brings you to 39; I don't know who else is missing.
BTW, the trade deadline had already passed in OOTP. I had to release the players and then sign them as free agents to get the deal done, so if you see that in the Transactions section of the website (if anyone doesn't know, clicking on the Transactions button brings up a list of trades, FA signings, etc) that is what happened.

--Scott, I only show 38 players on your DM roster too. One missing player is Diomedes Olivo, who ddidn't play in 1961 and so is not in the program. Take a look at the file I just sent you and let me know who the other missing player is. Or maybe you are only at 39? 40 is required only for Opening Day.
