Gary Carter was named manager of the Mets' high-A minor league affiliate in Port St. Lucie, Fla., yesterday. Last year, while managing in the Gulf Coast League -- a Mets rookie-level affiliate also based in St. Lucie -- Carter's team went to the league championship. -- New York Post
