That happened yesterday. Apparently he is only going to do some baserunning activities with some the Spring Training hopefuls.
The Q: Can the Cubs hold a 6-5 lead with 2 outs and nobody on in the 9th?

    The A: No

Selig is like a stray pigeon. Pigeons are too self-absorbed to care about anyone else. They poo on people they don't like; they poo on people they don't even know. The only real difference between Selig and a pigeon is that Selig intends to bury our heritage, our traditions, and our culture,

    Oh Great!!!

Now that's good news....Just what we need..a "Little Rickey" running
around the basepaths....I wonder if we could trade coaches???

    why?

I dont understand all the hostility towards Rickey... sure he may have been injured a lot, BUT wasn't he a great lead off hitter? He's dedicated, he's fast, and he can steal the hell out of a base... Furthermore, he is arguably the greatest lead off hitter of all time. Why not let Reyes near him? Reyes isn't exactly the best leadoff hitter in the league. His on base percentage isnt much higher than his average. Maybe, just maybe Rick could teach the guy how to draw a few walks and steal a few more bases. I'm sure everyone would love to see Reyes in scoring position more often. Maybe there's something I'm missing but I think Rickey could definitely help...

I think this can only help them. Reyes is already good on the bases, but it wouldn't hurt to get a few tips from the Man of Steal himself. Reyes may have gone 60-15 last year (good for 80%), but some pointers from a guy who has 1406 stolen bases at an 80% success rate could definitely help.

We aren't talking about changing Reyes into the next Rickey (couldn't happen anyways), but a few tips here and there couldn't help. I mean this is a guy who hit over .300 10 times in his career, had a .400+ OBP 15 times (including 9 consecutive years), has nearly 300 HR's, and on top of having three seasons of 100+ SB's, has MANY other good years on the bases.

To highlight, here are a few:
    SB - CS - %
    100-26 - 79%
    130-42 - 76%
    108-19 - 85%
    66-18 - 79%
    80-10 - 89%
    87-18 - 83%
    41-8 - 84%
    93-13 - 88%
    77-14 - 91%
    65-10 - 87%
    53-8 - 87%
    66-13 - 84%

(okay, so that's more than a few)

That he has, but are you saying he's not going to actually help them? Did he just take the job for the money and then say forget it I'm not going to work? Huh? We all know how Rickey was/is/will be, but how will that affect him teaching what he knows? He will be an excellent teacher, he has all the knowledge there is to know, he's played more baseball than almost anyone, so let's let him impart some of his knowledge to the next generation. If Rickey was going to be just for himself, then he wouldn't have taken a job to coach, so I don't think that holds any ground, and if the Met's organization thought he wasn't going to help, but be detrimental to their players, he wouldn't be there.

Rickey was never dedicated to anything or anybody but Rickey, but as we've seen in the past as these players get older and realize they can't play anymore they seem to change their personality.

Actually I wasn't thinking of it that way but you may have a point...Yes he's HOF and I don't question that or the fact that he has a lot of knowledge to teach...I do, again, question his method of teaching...Incidentally, what makes you think he will be an excellent teacher???
