Hello Baseball Fever Fans:
Here is a comprehensive list of players who PLAYED for both the New York Mets and New York Yankees. Each name is also linked to their career stats. Why? So you can answer or create other questions like who also played for the Brooklyn Dodgers? Or the New York Giants? Or all four? Or maybe who has a ring from both modern teams? There is no limit to the questions (or answers) you can make and I hope you have some fun.

Hope you enjoyed this list and my sincere thanks to all those who contributed, helped update it, thought of ideas (managers) and kept it accurate throughout the 2004 season. If somebody new comes along please let me know and I'll keep the list current. It was last updated on November 4, 2007 and is comprehensive once again.

Bill Sudakis? Jack Aker, Dave Kingman, Doc Medich were close.

After this thread was originally posted someone provided a similar list of Yankees and Red Sox in this thread. Appears that is now gone. Anyone have any idea where it was moved to?

I don't think anybody was both a Met and Yankee during the two shared years.Originally Posted by west coast orange and black
Here is a favorite trivia question of mine:
There are six men who have hit regular-season homers at Shea Stadium as members of both the Mets and Yankees. Name them.
Last edited by VIBaseball; 12-28-2005 at 05:59 PM. Reason: I have corrected further; it's six men, not three.
Might want to move this to trivia.Originally Posted by VIBaseball

Maddox is one.
I think this particular question is on topic here, though it would certainly be at home under trivia. I have posted it there, with a correction -- there are six guys who've achieved this feat, not three.

Didn't Ron Swoboda also do it? And what about Jose Vizcaino? How about Strawberry?

You're right...I thought he played a few games in '74, but was wrong.

Here are some more guys that should be on that list:
Darren Bragg (Mets: 2001, Yankees: 2001)
Wilson Delgado (Mets: 2004, Yankees: 2000)
Octavio Dotel (Mets: 1999, Yankees: 2006)
Scott Erickson (Mets: 2004, Yankees: 2006)
Orlando Hernandez (Mets: 2006-, Yankees: 1998-2004)
Matt Lawton (Mets: 2001, Yankees: 2005)
Ricky Ledee (Mets: 2006-2007), Yankees: 1998-2000)
Terrence Long (Mets: 1999, Yankees: 2006)
Cory Lidle (Mets: 1997, Yankees: 2006)
Doug Mientkiewicz (Mets: 2005, Yankees: 2007)
CJ Nitkowski (Mets: 2001, Yankees: 2004)
Juan Padilla (Mets: 2005, Yankees: 2004)
Kelly Stinnett (Mets: 1994-1995; 2006, Yankees: 2006)
Strawberry is definitely one (he hit a homer at Shea as a Yankee in a home game in 1998, and he might have hit some in interleague play), I'd imagine Ventura and Elliot Maddux are, and I'm going to take a few wild guesses here and say that Todd Zeile, Miguel Cairo, and John Olerud round out the category.
Naturally, all of these players had to be Yankees either during '74-'75 or from '98 to today (since the 1997 Interleague Series was played at Yankee Stadium).
(Considering I wasn't born yet during the YS renovation, and the '74 and '75 Yanks were not notable teams, I really don't know too well who was on those teams, and who on those teams played for the Mets. I wouldn't be surprised to see at least 2 of those 6 players be from that era, and not the interleague era.)

Add Andy Phillips to that list now, played a couple of games for the Mets this year.
Guess we can add Brandon Knight and Xavier Nady to the list.
Put it in the books.
Tony Clark was one of the six players, i was at a subway series game when he hit 2 at shea as a yankee
Add Gary Sheffield.
Put it in the books.
