Alston and his coaching staff....
[QUOTE=Todd Anderson;1059407]You kiddin' Pete? Those pics are TREMENDOUS! Shoot, I'm 53 and almost feel like I attended my first game at Ebbets! haha Questions that now arise in my pointed head:
You really had me thinking about this one, Todd. I believe it was rolled out to centerfield where there was a roll-up door. It was kept in there after balling practice.1. Wonder where the batting cage went when they weren't using it? Was there some kind of "secret door" in right field by the scoreboard?
WE did indeed have a tarp to cover the field for rain or sometimes snow. OUR ground crew was headed by the Uncle of one of our sister Debs. Uncle Joe was his name and he and his crew could roll that thing out (and back) in record time.2. Did Ebbet's have a "tarp" for rainy days? Or was that an item that came about years later?
3I have, or have seen, many of these great photos. The majority of them I would say were taken in 1951-1953. The exceptions are those of Roger Craig, Don Bessent, Don Drysdale and Sandy Koufax, which were taken 1955-1957. Then there are some taken in 1940's.. Do you happen to know what year these 12 pics were taken? I think I saw Hodges in the batters box?
You are certainly right, Todd, they are so much fun to look at.
