I am going to see if I can find a picture of the '55 Dodgers quilt that this article references. I bet it's a nice item:

A CD of Red Barber from 1935, when he was employed by the Reds, is apparently now available:

I've only had the chance to hear a couple of clips of the mellifluous Ol' Redhead. Wish I could have heard a whole game.

Didn't see this posted elsewhere. LIFE released some rare, never-seen photos from the 1955 World Series:

Wonderful photos, but they've been posted for years at BDM.

The Brooklyn Historical Society has been running a film series on the Dodgers. This Saturday's offering is The Life of Jackie Robinson, with Jackie as himself and co-star Ruby Dee as Rachel.

Judas Priest! From The Natural to The Mahatma? Talk that Robert Redford will play Branch Rickey in a potential movie project:

This one's for penncentralpete, though I wouldn't be at all surprised if he's aware of it already. If he had the disposable income, he'd probably be the one who commissioned it!

Newly released series of 25 LIFE photos (not previously published in the magazine). The scene: Dodgertown in Vero Beach, 1948.

    #4 features a 21-year-old Carl Erskine. #21 shows an 18-year-old Dick Williams.
Among other notable names: Pepper Martin (coaching), Branch Rickey, and Freasco Thompson.

From May 17 through May 19, in Manhattan, there will be a historical presentation of many postcards featuring the Brooklyn Dodgers and their ballparks:
