Great info, Pete. Thanks for the inside scoop. I know when I visit where the stadium once stood, I'll get a sick feeling in my gut. Especially after getting such a liberal education on the facility. As I view the fans in the seats, it appears there were no terrible places to sit, unless (I guess) it may have been behind any of those iron "posts" that ran throughout the place. Am I right?
Overall, the stadium looks very intimate—the players and the fans were all so close to each other. Amazing place! I prefer that atmosphere to the larger ones. Probably the only places to get that anymore are minor league parks. St. Paul has a dandy place for their Saints. Went their once. Wonderful atmosphere. They have barber chairs that line the front row, along third base. You can get your hair cut while you watch the game (ha). Right or left field had a gigantic 10-12 man hot tub where winners (who had their names drawn from the last game) would sit and relax while watching the action. Anyway, it was hilarious. Bet Ebbets wasn't quite that crazy, but was full of fun stuff like Sym-phony Band. Bet you could hear them playing no matter where you were in the park. Tremendous!
Todd
todd: you are very welcome. yes, ebbets field was a very special place. very intimate. the only place i've been that remotely reminds me of ebbets is boston's beautiful fenway park. a real gem! all the seats are cool. i sat behind a post at ebbets and didn't mind a bit. (probably because i was 8 or 10 years old!). st. paul sounds like a nice atmosphere to see a game too.

As a Giants fan growing up, one could only like one Yankee and one Dodger player. [Dems da rules.] I chose Gil McDougal, tipping my hat to him after his 1951 Woild Serious exploits, and Gino Cimoli.
Ya got a Gino picture, Pete?
