Relocation or not ?

I'am a french marlins fan, and I haven't many information about this topic, I'am very afraid about an relocation, and could you give me later news about this ?

Keep the marlins in south florida.

I'd like to ask a question to Marlins fan: when I watch Marlins games on mlb.tv, the stadium is always empty (few thousand people) and can't understand why. Dolphins stadium is not a ballpark, but I can't understand why so few people attend ballgames.
I think relocation to a city that wants baseball is a good thing, but I want to understand this fact

I say they either get rid of the Marlins or D'rays in South Florida. There's only enough room for 1 bad team in South Florida.

They should move the Rays to Charlotte. The Marlins should stay because I hope they improve in the future, and they won two championships there. Moving would be a very bad idea, in my opinion. Question is, when will be the next Marlins WS ring?

For the next 20 years or so, the Rays ain't goin anywhere.. They have an ironclad lease with the city...The next ring may say Las Vegas Marlins

Problem is, Las Vegas would be a bad relocation area. (too much gambling and other issues) I'm going to say the next WS ring may say "Carolina Owls" or "Portland Carp."

Portland is probably the only place that has an MLB caliber facility...all of the other cities lack a facility large enough to house a team.

Trust me man, no one will go see a game in Charlotte. Hardly anyone cares about baseball in charlotte. I lived in Charlotte until June of this year and I assure you no one talks about baseball at all. I've attended several ballgames of Charlotte Knights and no one goes.

I called Jeff Loria over at a Phillies game before it started and he turned around and I said "Please keep the Marlins in Florida" and he said to me "I will." Hopefully he'll come through with that.

To the French guy, the problem is a lot of people here are OLD and baseball isn't too much of a draw for them if they're even capable of going to the games. If you bring in a latin superstar (the one time I've gone, Sammy was playing for the Cubs) they will come in nice amounts to root for their favorite. The tickets are somewhat expensive (though not as much as other teams) which is why I hardly go. Also, its truly not convenient. The stadium is in VERY VERY north miami which is a long ride for those living in Miami. However most of their support comes from Broward and Palm Beach counties (Where I Live) which is home to more average Americans who appreciate the game moreso than the immigrants living in the Miami area. To get to the game from Broward is about 30 min and its like 45-60 min to go from Palm Beach county. May not sound like too much but after the game a 60 min drive home late at night is no fun.

I think the Fish,having a good young team, should move IMO, they get no respect with the Heat and Dolphins in town, perhaps to portland or puerto rico?

There are supposedly some closed-door meeting going on right now concerning a new deal for a downtown Miami ballpark. This could be the last shot for south florida to keep the Fish... Stay tuned?

Marlins are staying in Dolphins Stadium until 2010. Alot can happen from now until then. You know what be cool? if the Dolphins gave some money to the Marlins for a stadium, the Super Bowl is coming and that always brings BILLIONS of dollars to the city thats hosting.

If Huizenga refuses to allow a lease to the Marlins, I doubt he is willing to give them money for a stadium lol..if they build a stadium in downtown Miami, kiss their Broward and especially Palm Beach County fan base goodbye. Most people living in Miami-Dade County don't have much money which is why the past deals were shot down, so good luck getting teh county to pay for it again. It is definitely going to include a hotel tax..

Whats funny is the Marlins actually have a proud franchise history thus far in there young tenur in the MLB. They have 2 World Series wins in about 14 years. They have also already had 4 no hitters by there pitchers. A lot of teams can't say the same for either.

At least they aren't moving down here, as was the buzz earlier this year. MLB in San Antonio would be a disaster:
1. Too close to Houston and Arlington - that's two "no" votes right there.
2. Almost as hot as Phoenix and with a lot more humidity. It's still 95 degrees at 9 PM from June through August. They'd need an expensive retractible dome, which of course wouldn't be ready for years. Part of the reason the Double-A team here hardly ever sells out is because of the heat.
3. San Antonio isn't exactly upscale. They'd do better putting the stadium in New Braunfels, close enough to tap the affluent (but still too small by itself for MLB) 600,000-strong Austin market. (but then SA would lose the tax advantages).
4. Everyone would lose interest early and late in the season while the Spurs are active. They own this town.
5. Lots of other things to do in the summer (SA is Texas' biggest tourist destination, though I've lived here six months and haven't figured that one out.)

I think staying put with a new facility along the Dade-Broward border would be best for reasons already stated by others in the thread.

The Marlins will NOT, repeat, NOT leave South Florida.

TV won't allow this to happen. TV killed the move to St. Petersburg for the Giants. Why? TV market share, of course.

The South Florida TV market is way too big for MLB to just pack up and leave. Won't happen. The TV execs will intervene and a solution will be found.

You call the Marlins a bad Team. The youngest franchise to win a World Championship (fourth season). They were also the first Wild Card team in Major League history to win it all. After all their player were sold in 98 had a couple of bad years and came back in 2003 to win it all again. But it didn't stop there 2005 again all the player were sold and in 2006 come back with a team full of rookies an a 15m payroll (10m less tha Alex Rodriguez) and broke almost every rookie record out there. come on you have to give them credit for that.

The only statement that I can think of is that the Marlins, with no funds whatsoever, have won more WS than the mighty Bravos, who have a gazillion of more years and dollars than the Fish.
I hope they can build a stadium real soon so we can get a good run of division titles like Atlanta's.

There is nothing that i would like more than to see the Marlins having a stadium or their own so they can generate some revenue and prove to a lot of people how energetic and good they can be(not that they don't are right now) and how many fans they can bring. I also would like the stadium in Hialeah but i think that is kind of completely out of the question and that Downtown Miami might just be our only option of keeping the Marlins in town.

I kind of like the way the Marlins work. They spend no money yet the have 2 championships in 10 years while the Cubs have 0 in soon to be 100 years.

Also, if you like good seats and catching HRs, Florida is the place to be. Simply sit behind home plate and after every home run run to the outfield and you'll probably be the first one there.
