    MVP 2005 Help!!

    Hey guys-

I am still playing MVP 2005 for PS2. I created my own "classic" rosters, and was really looking forward to playing a dynasty, but I can't figure out how to use my created roster in the dynasty. Does anyone know how to do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, make sure you have a profile loaded. On the beginning screen, go to "manage rosters." Once you're in there, you can make any changes you want, including adding Legends by going to the "free agent" option. They all start off as free agents. Once you've tweaked with your team, just go down to "save rosters," and save the roster you've created. Then make sure the roster and profile are loaded, and go into owner mode, exhibition, dynasty, etc... Just make sure in owner and franchis mode, that the option that says "Use unlockable Players" is turned ON. Otherwise none of the legends will show up on the roster you just made.

The other option is just to start an owner mode, and just make sure that fair trades is turned OFF, so you can make whatever moves you want within owner mode.

Isn't there an unlockable players option on the set-up screen.
Unlike most other team sports, in which teams usually have an equivalent number of players on the field at any given time, in baseball the hitting team is at a numerical disadvantage, with a maximum of 5 players and 2 base coaches on the field at any time, compared to the fielding team's 9 players. For this reason, leaving the dugout to join a fight is generally considered acceptable in that it results in numerical equivalence on the field, and a fairer fight.

Not as far as I know. The only place it would be, is in the "MY MVP" option, and then the "MY MVP OPTIONS" section. But in there, "use unlockable players" is not a choice. Instead there just "Gameplay Tuning" and "Gameplay Options." In "Gameplay Options," you can turn on and off stuff like pitching cursor, variable strike zone, hitters eye, hot/cold zone....stuff like that. And "Gameplay Tuning" is just where you can adjust the sliders and stuff.

The only way to turn unlockable players ON, is once you're starting an owner or dynasty mode, and it's the first screen you come to. Just below the "DH Rule" option, is the Use Unlockable Players ON/OFF.

Thanks a lot, Sultan. I am not sure what I was doing wrong before, but I got the rosters to load this time. I am playing a dynasty with the All-Time Dodgers. My lineup:

    2B: Jackie Robinson
    LF: Zack Wheat
RF: Duke Snider (sometimes Carl Furillo in right and Duke in center)
    DH: Mike Piazza
    C: Roy Campanella
    1B: Gil Hodges
    CF: Willie Davis
    3B: Ron Cey
SS: Pee Wee Reese/ Maury Wills

    SP: Sandy Koufax
    SP: Dazzy Vance
    SP: Don Drysdale
    SP: Don Sutton
    SP: Fernando Valenzuela

It should be a ton of fun. For all of the older franchises, I constructed all-time teams, but did not bother for some of the newer ones, like the Rockies, Marlins, Astros, etc.

I just kept editing minor league players and turned them into legendary players. This is what I did during the winter when I was procrastinating doing homework. The Yankees have a sick middle of the order (Mantle, Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio are 2-5), the Red Sox have a great staff (Pedro, Roger, Cy) and the Giants are just a great overall team. I used baseball-reference for stats for the players, and Neyer/ James book of pitchers to create the pitchers as accurately as possible.

    Thanks again for the help.

Right on, sounds pretty cool. Just out of curiosity, can you list the attributes you made for Wheat? Like his contact, power, fielding, running, plate discipline, all that good stuff?

Well, I can't look up his stats on my game because my PS2 is currently not working.

But I will take a look at baseball-reference.com and estimate the stats that I gave him.

    Contact (vs RHP/LHP): 91/87
    Power: 74/70
    Fielding: 80
    Range: 90
    Speed: 83
    Baserunning: 85
    Plate discipline: 70

Something like that, I think. I gave dead-ball players a slight power increase, and steroid-era players a slight decrease. But I couldn't make myself have any dead ball player capable of slugging 50 home runs. Even though if Zack Wheat had been born in a different era, he would have been a better power hitter, I didn't cut him too much slack. As is, I expect around 20 homers from him, but lots of extra base hits.

Looks pretty dang good. For throwing, it might be accurate to give him 78-82 with very high accuracy.

Unless you're playing games in the old stadiums, you should expect his power numbers to be much better than 20. Remember his home field Ebbets was over 400 feet down the left field line, and 450 in center. While it was short down the right field line, there was a 38 foot concrete/screen set up, and from what I've read, he wasn't a classic pull hitter like most lefties, but instead liked the ball out over the plate.

Even though his power might not be great, if you hold the left analog stick up and to the right before the pitch is even thrown, and just hold it there, if you stay patient, you should be able to jack pitches. Right now on all star mode, I have Crawford within 4 homers of Pujols, just from turning on the inside and low inside pitches. He's actually outslugging Pujols, but that's due to his triples mostly. Helps quite a bit that the computers defense plays Crawford to slap, so it plays right into my hands.

Anyway, you can create hot/cold zones on there for hitters, so here would be mine for wheat. As you know, the clear ones are neutral.
