    No confidence vote for Wagner

How many more screwups before this guy is Braden Looper, Armando Benitez, John Franco, or Doug Sisk all over again? We paid $10,000,000 for this? What the hell was Randolph thinking by bringing him in, and then leaving him in when he couldn't find the strikezone with a Rand McNally? We should be up 2-0 against the jankies and looking at a sweep on sunday, instead, Thank you Billy moneybags! Sorry to rant but boy am I po'd right now.

While he didn't get a blown save for it, if he did that would be his 4th and he only had 3 last year.

Looks like another guy the Mets overpaid for.
The Q: Can the Cubs hold a 6-5 lead with 2 outs and nobody on in the 9th?

    The A: No

Sometimes, Willie Randolph leaves much to be desired in the judgement department. What was he thinking with this dumb move, and then standing there hoping it would all just go away before he made a move? Why didn't he just leave Sanchez in there with the score 4-0. It's looking more and more like the METS cannot count on Wagner to deliver consistently, which is the job of a "closer". He looked more than AWFUL today...he looked pathetic! I agree, AmazingMet, one then has to question that $10MIL spent.

It is never a good idea to sign a hard throwing closer in his 30's to a longterm contract (unless his name is Mariano Rivera). Wagner will only get worse with time, so I wouldn't get too angry yet, there's more to come.

HillBilly choked big time today, you can see he can't take the pressure of New York. I don't know what Willie was thinking when he took out Pedro after 7 innings he could have gone 1 more inning, then Sanchez could have worked the 9th inning. Even taking Pedro out after 7 innings Sanchez could have worked 2 innings after the quick 8th inning but Willie and his so called genius pitching coach Peterson were thinking too much about tomorrow. They were saving Sanchez to pitch tomorrow before winning today, so they bring in HillBilly and he blows up. I've never seen a worse performance by a closer ever, anyone in the bullpen could have held a 4 run lead but Willie and genius Peterson sit there and let Hillbilly blow the 3 runs of the lead and leave the bases loaded then they try for a double play on Damon instead of going home and cutting off run number 4. What really worries me is the Mets really looked defeated in there last 3 at bats, HillBilly took them from a real high in the 8th inning to a real down by the 9th I just hope it doesn't carry over till tomorrow because they were playing so well.

How many wins has Wagner cost Pedro so far? Is the running total at 2 or 3 now?

Wagner pitched for the Phillies last year so he knows what it is like to deal with tough fans and a tough press. My money says you will be cheering him before the year is out.

Philly is no NY no way no how, no matter how much they wish they were. Having said that the fans in Philly are ruthless and crass, Mets fans are more forgiving than Phillies fans, but Wagner is not making many friends over here the way he is pitching.

The NY Daily News has this story today with Billy Wagner (almost) suggesting to the press that it was Willie Randolph's fault......

    http://www.nydailynews.com/front/sto...p-354421c.html

The METS need to get this guy "in line" before he does too much damage, both on the field and off.

Wagner should be ready to pitch every day, every inning. To say "lets do a do over, I only am mentally capable of coming in for closing situations" is ridiculous. He blew it and Randolph is not to be blamed. God help him if it blows one today!!

I'd be SHOCKED if he came in tonights game under any circumstance.. He pitched Friday and Sat and threw a ton of pitches yesterday... I think if a save situation arises, Willie will use Sanchez or Heilman...

I thought almost the same thing about Mariano, but then he not only did 1, but 2 innings on Saturday, worked well.

Since I haven't followed the "Southpaw Sandman", how often has he been problematic? Is it non-save situations, coming into tied games that he doesn't like and/or perform well in?

Willie, Peterson and Minaya are very stubborn people, they will lose to try and prove a point. Just look at Zambrano and last year Kaz Ishii they stuck with Zambrano because of the terrible Kazmir trade and Ishii because Minaya didn't want to admit he made a mistake. We had Jae Seo at Norfolk because Peterson didn't like him so we went with Ishii and all Seo did was win 8 games when the Mets had to use him. I hope we don't see Wagner tonight but don't be surprised if Willie and Peterson stick it to the fans to prove a point.

With Tom Glavine having a 2.43 ERA, .210 BAA, then Aaron Small being a shaky reliever who caught lightning in a bottle last year, I'm not even sure the Yanks would win tonight's game.

Unless Wagner's imploded like this often, and if it's a non-save situation, I don't think that I could blame Willie too much if he'd put Wagner in, given that other guys in the pen are warming up and ready for use.

Wagner is very similar to other Mets closers he makes you nervous when he comes in in a close game. It is hardly ever easy with him and now he has blown 4 maybe 5 games for the Mets. If I was Willie I would tell Billy to take the day off and stay home after his comments blaming Willie for using him in a non save situation because he wasn't mentally ready for that situation. Billy is making $11 million a year he should be ready to drag the field if needed, It is such crap with these prima donna high priced closers today. He also has a very bad attitude which needs an adjustment, saying things like " I could care less" after blowing a save a few weeks ago, someone needs to talk to HillBilly bring him back to earth. He needs to know he is in New York not Houston or Philly and teach him how to talk to the press, maybe David Wright could tutor him.

The bottom line is that the Mets need him to be Billy Wagner to win the division. All the rest is just talk.

He's blown 3 saves so far and a few tied games.. I think he's only been in 2 non save games all year with yesterdays game being the 1st one with a lead.. He pitched vs the Brewers last week to get some work in and we were down by 5 in the 8th...

Well, thats what its all about... You blow a game, the only way to make it better is to go out and try save the next one... That he did...

I'm still kinda suprised after throwing so many pitches the day before he came in but he looked very strong and sharp..

Funny game, this game of baseball, isnt it

Mariano is getting old, it is ashame because he probably was the best of all time, I don't like seeing great players getting old. I just hope he knows when to quit and doesn't embarrass himself for the money, because 5 years later he's going to the HOF.

HillBilly still has alot of proving to do, it is a long season, he still can't be trusted with a one or two run lead. Last night he got the save by the skin of his teeth, he's very lucky he saved it because the fans would have lynched him after the game in the Shea parking lot.
