CHICAGO -- Prior to today game vs. the Cubs, the Chicago White Sox reinstated right-handed pitcher Jose Contreras from the 15-day disabled list and optioned left-handed reliever Boone Logan to Class AAA Charlotte. Contreras will start this afternoon in the series finale vs. the Cubs.
Contreras, 34, is 5-0 with a 1.41 ERA (7 ER/44.2 IP) in six starts this season. He was placed on the disabled list on May 9 (retroactive to May 5) with sciatica (irritation of the sciatic nerve).
In his last start on May 4 vs. Seattle, Contreras allowed one run over 7.1 IP to extend his Major League-best winning streak to 13 games. He was named American League Pitcher of the Month for April and has gone 13-0 with a 1.80 ERA (21 ER/105.0 IP) over his last 14 regular-season starts.
Logan, 21, went 0-0 with a 5.68 ERA (8 ER/12.2 IP) in 12 appearances with the White Sox this season. He made the Sox Opening Day roster, making the jump from the Class A level in 2005.
