I agree re: the PAP2 league. I'm just not sure as to what to do about it. Most of the owners there are "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" owners...they leave their MPs alone all season, and check in at the website. Any suggestions? Most of those guys have been with me for 2 years, some as long as 5!

Scott - Not really. They are two different types of leagues, and completely different situations. The Keeper League has the distinct advantage of having a sub-category (under Fantasy Baseball and Gaming) at BBF, so it is a lot easier to throw up a post whenever one wants, or send someone a PM. That is what helps the managers get to know each other and permits the easy back and forth, give and take of the site. With PAP2, you have to check into Yahoo, check your mail, and the way the messages come through over there makes it more difficult to read and stay current than it is here. I really think you've done a fine job with PAP2 and know you put hours of effort into it (hell, I know how much time I spend just working on the website for this league). I enjoy that too, but the ability to stay in touch and throw barbs at each other is just more difficult working through Yahoo. But both leagues work and are enjoyable!

--Smokey Braithwaite announced a deal for Leon Wagner today. The Knights send minor league 3B Max Alvis to the Joe's for the slugging outfielder, who is expected to replace FA RF Roger Maris in the Knights lineup. "We think Alvis is going to be a solid 3B and may be ready to start this season, but he wasn't going to get a shot with us due to Eddie Mathews. Daddy Wags has been a consistent power hitter for several years and should be able to replace Maris' production for us".

In an attempt to trim salary, Shoeless mgmt has decided to offer up Orlando Cepeda. He has several decent seasons left, including a .929ops in 1963 (MLB league average in 1963 is .693)...he should crush the ball this season. If you need a 1B or OFer, he'd be a good fit.

Yup, but I don't think it's enough to make any kind of run on Mark. He'll still be the class of the Johnson Division for a couple of years - Scott and Wil have some ground to make up. But Scott might compete for the WC this year. And Joe isn't wasting any time, either, upgrading the Shoeless ones.Should be good races in the Hulbert and Cartwright Divisions this year - Chris will be a definite threat to dethrone the champs.

--Thanks everyone for getting their non-tenders in before the deadline. Some interesting trade activity too. Cepeda is one heck of a player for the next two years (BTW 10.5M is correct on his salary) and should make the Redbirds a little tougher on me this year. The Joes are making some nice moves to free up salary and add some young talent too. I think the Hulbert division is going to be brutal in the mid-late 60s.

--The Knights trade All Star catcher Johnny Romano to the Hard Cider for minor league C/1B Don Pavletcih. Smokey says "Johnny has been a big part of our success the past 2 seasons, but Tim McCarver is ready to step up and play regularly. Pavletich gives us a younger, cheaper platoon option. We hope to turn those savings into another quality player in the free agent market."
