I agree re: the PAP2 league. I'm just not sure as to what to do about it. Most of the owners there are "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" owners...they leave their MPs alone all season, and check in at the website. Any suggestions? Most of those guys have been with me for 2 years, some as long as 5!Originally Posted by catcher24
Scott - Not really. They are two different types of leagues, and completely different situations. The Keeper League has the distinct advantage of having a sub-category (under Fantasy Baseball and Gaming) at BBF, so it is a lot easier to throw up a post whenever one wants, or send someone a PM. That is what helps the managers get to know each other and permits the easy back and forth, give and take of the site. With PAP2, you have to check into Yahoo, check your mail, and the way the messages come through over there makes it more difficult to read and stay current than it is here. I really think you've done a fine job with PAP2 and know you put hours of effort into it (hell, I know how much time I spend just working on the website for this league). I enjoy that too, but the ability to stay in touch and throw barbs at each other is just more difficult working through Yahoo. But both leagues work and are enjoyable!![]()

Mark: you have Gary Geiger listed as a FA and not on my team. We're not quite ready to give up on a 110 OPS+ with VG/EX defense in all three OFs.
Other than that, the FA files check out, at least for us.
September 16, 2012: The Losing Streak Ends
--Added Geiger to your roster.
--As a reminder, the non-tender deadline is July 6 (midnight EST). All the returning owners except the Gamblers have submitted their cut down list. The new Shoeless Joe's have an extra week to review the team and submit their list. Anybody who wants to make additonal non-tenders can still add to their list until the deadline.
--Smokey Braithwaite announced a deal for Leon Wagner today. The Knights send minor league 3B Max Alvis to the Joe's for the slugging outfielder, who is expected to replace FA RF Roger Maris in the Knights lineup. "We think Alvis is going to be a solid 3B and may be ready to start this season, but he wasn't going to get a shot with us due to Eddie Mathews. Daddy Wags has been a consistent power hitter for several years and should be able to replace Maris' production for us".
Shoeless confirms the Alvis for Wagner deal.
In an attempt to trim salary, Shoeless mgmt has decided to offer up Orlando Cepeda. He has several decent seasons left, including a .929ops in 1963 (MLB league average in 1963 is .693)...he should crush the ball this season. If you need a 1B or OFer, he'd be a good fit.
His stats can be found here: http://www.baseball-reference.com/c/cepedor01.shtml
I'm looking for cheaper talent at OF, 2B, P, and would consider picks and/or a combo deal.
Send offers to clark444@comsouth.net
--The acquistion of Wagner puts the Knights at 89.0M for 37 players. I'd still like to move Johnny Romano for some payroll flexibility and the price may be lower than you think. If you need a catcher whose good though 1966, make me an offer.
The Shoeless Joe's make the following roster moves:
Retirement - Earl Lown
Release - Gordy Coleman, Chico Fernandez, Julio Gotay, Ken Hubbs, and Marv Throneberry
Forced Free Agent - Earl Battey (C) - 6.50
With today's trade and the 250k raises, Shoeless keeps 33 players at the collective cost of 81.50.
The Shoeless Joe's deal Orlando Cepeda to the Redbirds for Dave McNally and the Redbirds 2nd round pick in the upcoming draft.
I guess add Fred Newman and Al Smith, and I'm good to go.
By the way, Smith is available in trade. Or you can just have him. Second round draft pick? You want him, you got him.

Yikes. That's going to make the Redbirds pretty tough in the upcoming season. Excellent pick up there, Scott. It might eventually make the Shoeless Joes better as well, but not until '65.The Shoeless Joe's deal Orlando Cepeda to the Redbirds for Dave McNally and the Redbirds 2nd round pick in the upcoming draft.
Yup, but I don't think it's enough to make any kind of run on Mark. He'll still be the class of the Johnson Division for a couple of years - Scott and Wil have some ground to make up. But Scott might compete for the WC this year. And Joe isn't wasting any time, either, upgrading the Shoeless ones.Should be good races in the Hulbert and Cartwright Divisions this year - Chris will be a definite threat to dethrone the champs.
BTW, I have Ed Charles, John Boozer and DAve DeBusschere available. If anyone is interested, PM me.

Redbirds confirm...but Joe is too quick for me, and I didn't get Cepeda's salary. Is it 10.5 mil?

--Thanks everyone for getting their non-tenders in before the deadline. Some interesting trade activity too. Cepeda is one heck of a player for the next two years (BTW 10.5M is correct on his salary) and should make the Redbirds a little tougher on me this year. The Joes are making some nice moves to free up salary and add some young talent too. I think the Hulbert division is going to be brutal in the mid-late 60s.

--The Knights trade All Star catcher Johnny Romano to the Hard Cider for minor league C/1B Don Pavletcih. Smokey says "Johnny has been a big part of our success the past 2 seasons, but Tim McCarver is ready to step up and play regularly. Pavletich gives us a younger, cheaper platoon option. We hope to turn those savings into another quality player in the free agent market."
--Now at 82.75 for 37 players after swapping Romano (6.5M) for the minimum wage Pavletich.Originally Posted by leecemark
