I'm not sure how he would be as far as a manager....I would say it's worth a shot. I think first though, before managment is looked at the team should be looked at. They have big contracts on guys who dont play well or arent healthy. I think the team needs to have some new faces in different places first. Then they can discuss someone besides Dusty.

On antoher note. I'm mad Reynolds got fired from ESPN. I'm curious as to why he actually got fired. I liked H.R. I thought he knew a lot about the game, mainly because he played. Now with Gammons gone and H.R. out we will have to listen to Steve Phillips the genius.....not....yeah he's an expert hmmm... Scott Kazmir for Victor Zambrano rings a bell.

I hope the Cubs make a strong push for Pinella. Maybe he could bring HR on as a bench coach. I don't think it would be a good idea for HR or the Cubs if he was hired as the manager for next season, if Dusty is fired.

Reynolds was the classiest sports analyst ESPN had.

don't you wonder why he was abruptly jettisoned from ESPN after 11 years? That alone makes me leery.

He had said some pretty harsh things about A-Rod and Jeter while on the air. So I am thinking that these actions may have something to do with it. Also, I think that he would be a great Coach for us since he is still very young and knows the game so well. Dustbag has to go. And Penilla is not the same coach as he use to be. I don't think that HR would do any worse then Dustbag has done this year.

Not sure I will have to dig around and see what I can come up with.

    That just doesn't make sense.

I'd bet it was something completely unrelated to anything on-air. Either he was significantly exaggerating his expense reports, or some kind of sexual harrassment thing. Something on a MUCH more serious scale than just speaking harshly about a ball player.
Jerseys hanging in my den : Santo, Jenkins, Williams, Banks, Grace, Sandberg, Dawson, Eckersley, Sutcliffe, Wood, Prior, Zambrano, Lee

Oddly enough, I never bought a Sosa jersey, even during his best years.

Alright this is all I could find right now. However I don't know how much of this I am willing to believe.

Check it out for yourselves. But according to this article HR got canned for Sexual Herassment.

    New Cub Manager

Dusty has to go and I like Bob Bremly or Mark Grace.

Reynolds may have the baseball know-how, and I do enjoy what he did on ESPN, but that doesn't necessarily mean he is capable of managing players. If I'm not mistaken, despite the results, Larry Dierker had his players practically revolting against him by the time he got fired, and Brenly's succes at riding his horses only lasted for so long in Arizona. Look at what the inexperienced Alan Trammell did in Detroit. Being able to handle players is as important as knowledge.

Reynolds is likely staying in broadcasting. Baseball fans out here in the Pacific Northwest are a little shocked b/c Reynolds a product of the Corvailis, OR area always personifies the "squeaky clean" Christian act. Personally I wouldn't be suprised to see him in Seattle in the booth before too long.

Not an indictment against him, since I don't know Bob from Adam, but knowing the game is only one aspect of broadcasting.

Harold's First couple of years on the air were painful for one and all to listen to. I'm suprised he made it as long as he did. When news broke, the first thing I thought was Sexual Harrassment. Not that I know anything about Harold's charactor or habits. I don't. A Move like this in mid season has to be SH or the ratings fell off the edge of the earth.

Sweet Lou as the next Cubs manager ? I like the idea. He can still get it done. Let see. When the Cubs suck, they beat St. Louis all day long, but when the Cubs are good, they can't beat St. Louis with a stick !

H.R. would be a good manager for the Cubs. Dusty just sits in the dugout all day.

Maybe as a first base coach or hitting coach, but you'll never see him maning a team.

Grace as hitting coach... Rickey Henderson as running coach... Maddux as pitching coach... hmm... those are my picks... as for manager... I would go with Joe Girardi if we could pry him off from the marlins. I dont know why but I always liked Joe.

Not sure if it'll will happen or not, but either way, I don't think Grace is ready to be a manager. I would like to see him as a bench coach or maybe as a base coach, but I don't see him being ready to run a team.
