    30 hours, 84 innings, 234 runs

Yup, you've heard it here first!

Extra, extra innings: Game lasts 30 hours, 84 frames
ALLIANCE, Neb. -- Talk about extra innings.

A baseball game that began at 10 a.m. on Saturday in Alliance ended Sunday at 4:05 p.m. That's 30 hours and five minutes between the first pitch and the final out. Game organizers are counting on the contest being long enough to break a world record.

Forty players, ranging in age from 18 to 44, rotated in and out of the 84-inning game in hopes of setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest baseball game.

The record stands at 25 hours, set in Canada nearly three years ago.

Alliance organizers tried for a record last year, but their 24-hour, 16-minute game fell short of the record by 44 minutes.

Far from a pitcher's duel, this year's game was won by the Alliance Times-Herald Dragons, which beat the WESTCO Knights, by a score of 120 to 114.

Doesn't make sense to me, how can this be a world record if they try to keep the game going? IMO, my PAWSOXS still own the record

I would LOVE to be in a game like this
Mythical SF Chronicle scouting report: "That Jeff runs like a deer. Unfortunately, he also hits AND throws like one." I am Venus DeMilo - NO ARM! I can play like a big leaguer, I can field like Luzinski, run like Lombardi. The secret to managing is keeping the ones who hate you away from the undecided ones. I am a triumph of quantity over quality. I'm almost useful, every village needs an idiot.

How do you lose this record though, in reality the only thing stopping a game like this is lack of sleep. I mean if one team scores 5 runs, the other team can just give the runs back to keep going or if the wiining run is on 3rd the man at bat could just accidentally strike out.
"I don't like to sound egotistical, but every time I stepped up to the plate with a bat in my hands, I couldn't help but feel sorry for the pitcher."

Bah humbug! RMB and myself could take your PawSon and whup 'em. I'll even let you throw out the pitching I'll smack ... to left field, of course!

Oh well, this one makes the Yanks-Sawx games seem like they were playing tiddlywinks by comparison.

Quite possibly you and RMB could take them, but they weren't THAT bad this year (Only 16 games back! ) and Devil Ray fans tell me I don't know what its like to have a losing team! As for 84 innings, I've never played more than nine, so those extra 75 might be a problem, However I have stayed up for 32 hours before, so I might be able to watch the whole thing, the pre game and the post game show!

I think the record is bogus because they rotated players. You cant do that. It might be cool if the same players went for 26 hours plus
