Can it get any easier for the Yankees? No White Sox, Red Sox, or Angels. Those are the only teams when healthy that I think would have had a prayer against the Yankees.
The Tigers, what a joke! 19-31 in their last 50 games, choked away the division, got whipped by the Yankees in the regular season. Got swept by the Royals at home to end the season. Not a chance, Yankees in a sweep.
Then in the ALCS, A's or Twins. Neither lineup scares you. Yankees have owned those teams in the post-season recently.
Yeah there are different players on the A's, but I can't trust a Billy Beane team to beat the Yankees when they've yet to even win one post-season series.
The Twins don't have Liriano, so no chance to beat the Yankees. Santana can't start every game. I can't believe they've played so well without Liriano. After Santana, their rotation is very mediocre. Radke is coming off an injury and hasn't been anything special this season anyway. Boof Bonser, Matt Garza, Carlos Silva, and Scott Baker would not beat the Yankees.
As far as the National League, well the Mets, their toughest competition, have lost their ace. He had never pitched too well against the Yankees anyway, and I couldn't see the Mets beating the Yankees in a World Series.
The Padres, weak hitting team, no way. Maybe the Yankees wouldn't sweep them like in 1998, but I couldn't see the Padres winning more than one game in that series.
The Cardinals forget it. They're a joke. Yankees would murder their pitching. They're lucky as hell to have made the playoffs, if the season was a week longer they wouldn't have won their division.
And my Dodgers no way either. Our starting pitching would get pounded by the Yankees. I think only Lowe would pitch well against them.
Unfortunately, the Yankees will end their short drought this season and win the World Series. They and their fans will celebrate as if they actually accomplished something, but with a $200 million+ payroll, it wouldn't be much of an accomplishment. I hope I'm dead wrong, as I have been since 2001, (I've picked the Yankees to win the World Series every year since 1996) but I just can't see this Yankee team losing. This is the easiest road they've had.![]()

Now seriously, even an avid Yankee fan like me doesn't claim it is going to be that easy. I think we will win. But I recognize that anything can happen.
