That was strange. Good Crosley shots, and at least a few of Comiskey, but the very final shot looked to me like it was from Griffith Stadium after the LF stand was double-decked , and there was a point where Judge Landis was prominently shown in the middle of a crowd. Presumably he had no official affiliation with MLB until a year or so after the 1919 WS.

Of course, Landis was in on the thing all along. But he got stiffed and the owners had to make him commish to keep him quiet about who was really running the scam.

Wow, that last picture shows two things I've rarely if ever seen:

    1) Seats set up on the burm in left field (presumably for a post season game)
    2) Grassed-in baselines at a MLB field. I've seen base lines grassed in at a lot of parks, but never on a major league field.

    Awsome shots!

baselines are dirt, the soil is damp after being covered by the tarp. the plate area, mound and circles outside of the plate are covered with tarps.
the dugout-plate walkway was not covered and the standing water reflects the sky as the tarps do.
unless it's '39 or '40 this is most likely opening day with outfield seating on the berm.

On the outfield wall - is that a pipe or handrail?

Tugger, This is the first i've read about this. Could you let me know where you read this? I'm curious and been a fan of the scandal for years. Thanks.

Wonder why the Yankee is laying down behind the mound? Odd bunt defense?

    it's the center fielder.
foreshortening, camera angle is low to the ground and the field grade may have a hump.
