    Trivial facts...2 of them

2 Trivial facts, I came upon today.

1). Sean Casey was the first player in MLB history to hit over .500, for a losing team in the WS.

2). The Candians are coming....do you realize, that with the Justin Morneau victory for the MVP. 3 of the 4 "major" sports MVPs are Canadian? FYI Joe Thorton MVP NHL, Steve Nash MVP NBA, and Justin Morneau MVP MLB AL. I think that is a historic first.

That one is hard to believe with how common it is to have a good 4-5-6-7-game series at the bat - and I'm assuming your just talking about regulars.

    I guess .500 doesn't count:
    Larry McLean .500 1913
    Dave Robertson .500 1917
    Joe Marty .500 1938
    Vic Wertz .500 1954
    Tony Gwynn .500 1998

But how about Thurman Munson .529 in 1976 and Deion Sanders .533 1992 and Brett Boone .538 1999

Just because they say it on the radio (even ESPN radio), or announce it on ESPN (TV), don't make it so. The ESPN folks are usually pretty accurate, though.....after all they have "The Schwab" right? Howie Schwab, eh?!

But regular sports talk radio talking heads are just trying to make a splash, impress you with their knowledge, soes that you keep listening to them to boost ratings? I heard two anti-Yankee guys talking late this summer about THE BOSS George Steinbrenner spending freely after the Bobby Abreau trade. George loses a $13 million dollar player to injury (Sheffield), so he goes out and replaces him with a $16 million replacement. (that part is true). But then they spout off about how THE BOSS has the payroll up to $250 or $275 million. NO WAY.....it was always just under $200 mil.

If only Mike Vanderjagt was a running back, with LaDainian Tomlinson's skills.
