    Baseball Poetry

Inspired by the "Tigers Haiku" thread over in that forum, I thought this might be a good way to kill time till spring training, and exercise some creativity to boot. Here's one off the top of my head:

    Fenway Park is old
Can we put some more seats here?

Mythical SF Chronicle scouting report: "That Jeff runs like a deer. Unfortunately, he also hits AND throws like one." I am Venus DeMilo - NO ARM! I can play like a big leaguer, I can field like Luzinski, run like Lombardi. The secret to managing is keeping the ones who hate you away from the undecided ones. I am a triumph of quantity over quality. I'm almost useful, every village needs an idiot.

    October is near
    The playoffs are starting soon
    Lets root for the Cubs
(Keep in mind, I wrote this as a poetry assignment back in 2003 when I was younger.
Hitting is timing, pitching is upsetting timing.

It's a round ball and a round bat and you gotta hit it square.

Good pitching always beats good hitting...and vice versa.

In fifth grade, I also made this poem/song

    I love the Chicago Cubs
    And they are no flubs
They are the best baseball team
Any team they play they cream
Sammy Sosa, Mark Prior, and Kerry Wood
One way to describe them is... really good
Take yourself to Wrigley, have yourself a seat
Watch the Chicago Cubs, they can't be beat
Sometimes when Sammy, hits a home run
They get close to touching the sun
Prior and Wood can pitch a perfect game, they have the talent to go to the Hall of Fame

Once again, keep in mind, it was in fifth grade, and I thought of it laying in bed one night. It is pretty dumb, but has some good rhymes.

    In the summertime,
the Blue Jays will take the field.
    Until then, I wait.
