    "Laughing Larry" Doyle

What's the story behind Doyle's "Laughing Larry" nickname?

October 8, 1914 The Polo Gounds New York: Laughing Larry Doyle, right, of the New York Giants, shakes hands with Roger Peckinpaugh of the New York Yankees. This was probably a post season matchup with neither New York team making the World Series that year. (Corbis)
