Braves sign Mark Redman to minor league deal

This is a good signing, Redman has had some periods of success as a starter. I don't expect much from him, he'll probably be like Shane Reynolds in 2003, but at least JS didn't have to trade any of our valuable prospects for a pitcher that we weren't going to keep for more than a year.

Well, that is about the only positive thing here. I don't have very high hopes on Redman.

This is a good move by Schuerholz, he adds more depth to the 'Staff.
I also think this deal was made due to the Hampton's Injury-Proneness and, except for Hudson and Smoltz, the Lack of Experience in the Braves' Rotation.

Um...Hampton is already hurt if u don't already know. Oblique injury in batting practice has him out a couple months most likely. I like the signing too. Redman may be better than Hampton lol.

Any chance McBride gets some starts in the spring now with Hampton out for awhile?

    Macay ?
    Oh no!.
He was one of the young and good relievers last year for the Braves, why lose him to the Rotation while I do not even think he is a SP, plus it would be useless since the Braves signed Mark Redman.

He started off as a starter in the minors. Just saw it mentioned in an article somewhere. I am hoping Redman works out but if not who do we turn to? Plus I think its still up in the air for the 5th spot. Davies has done nothing but dissapoint. Cormier isn't anything to write home about. The only thing you lose from the pen is a 2nd lefty.
