Does anyone know when season tix for next season go on sale? I mean for those who don't have them now?
I'm sure they will want to complete their relocation plan for season ticket holders and take into account that some may want to expand the amount of seats they have during the first year at the new ballpark. Once they set that inventory and protect it then they'll make other locations available. A seat relocation can be a nightmare for a team's ticket office because the new ballpark is not setup like the current one and they will not be able to please everyone.
GLARING problems? Well, as a matter of fact, there is one. :-) The stadium is oriented away from the setting sun, but the upper deck seats behind home plate can get a lot of reflected sunlight from the downtown skyscrapers. http://www.twinsballpark2010.com/ShineOn
The only other objections to TF I've heard are really objections to the environment around the stadium. The garbage burner, the presence of drug dealers a block from the stadium, the pedestrian log jam that will occur when so many people try to leave TF at the end of a game, the fact that thousands of fans will have to cross the LRT tracks in order to get to the LRT station.
The sun glare issue is the only problem that seems it might be an issue. The garbage burner is a non-issue, since trucks aren't going to be entering/exiting during games (and, even then, the odor issue has apparently been mitigated).
As for inside the park, it seems the Twins have so far avoided every issue that was annoying about some of the other new parks, with the possible exception of having their own "Levine's Moat" with the Dugout Box seats.
The more I learn about Target Field, the more I'm convinced they have it right and that this will be the park that newer ones will be compared to.
The Twins have made the most out of a perhaps less-than-ideal location and footprint and have designed a park that is unique, fan-friendly and larger than it looks.
Get a deposit down now if you want season tickets for 2010. Anyone with a deposit down selects seats in Phase II, which starts in September.
Phase I (relocation/selection for existing season ticket holder) should be completed this month. I believe there are in the 6th or 7th category (of 7) now, in the 20 game plans. (Full season and 1/2 season completed a while ago).
In Phase II (September - October) the selection order is as follows:
8th - 2009 Balance of the Season accounts
9th - 2007 to 2009 unconverted Cheap Seats accounts
10th - 2010 Deposit Holders
Don't know what type of plan you might be interested in, but for Full Season - Dugout Box is sold out and what little is left in Home Plate Box is in the top 1/4 or so and under the overhangs.
Best availability now is in the Home Plate Box View (3xx level), primarily above row 6. On the field level, there was some decent seats left in Diamond and Field Box sections for those wanting 40 or full season. For the 20 game packages, looks like most of what's left is in the two outer most sections in the outfield. Haven't really paid attention to the bleachers and other outfield seats, but I suspect they are pretty popular, given the pricing.
Rick from www.twinsballpark2010.com posted another great update. Check it out.
This is a view of the Home Run Porch Terrace & View level from the B Ramp elevator lobby.
Home Run Porch Terrace (the lower part of the split deck.) Lots of leg room.
I like how there are curves in the concrete at the bottom of the stairs. Gives it a little more room.
This is where the large sign (neon and animated?) of the original Twins logo will be installed.
Seats!
Field Terrace with some rather high railings. Safety first.
Foul pole with netting.

Are those the same cheap railings they have at Yankee Stadium? Looks like it.

Painting the railings green would look ridiculous they look fine as they are.
NYS railings:

As for the Twins, I suggest you look closely at the photos. Each railing has a pattern between the segments that copies the sun-shade supports. They look kind of like this: \|/ Kind of a neat detail if you ask me...

How many seats is the Targ able to hold?
I prefer them as they are as well. I was saying that it's an option and was addressing Bombay who doesn't like it. Personally, I like the industrial look thrown in, It contrasts nicely with the limestone, concrete and seats. Just look at Lafferty's photos, specifically the 5th and 6th one from the top. The 6th with the railing shows how much nicer - it has a cleaner effect.

Awesome images. These yours?

Wow, it's the mother lode of new pics! thanks for posting those
That Kirby thing is rad. Love that limestone on the dugouts.
and I think I've underestimated the skyline view. I was initially disappointed that the crappy City Center was so dominant, but those views from down the third base line looking toward downtown are going to be spectacular.
Great pics, FMTwinsFan.
Not sure how you managed to get these, given the current photo policy, but nice to see them.

The TC and MLB logo on the visitor dugout is cool.
Limestone dugouts?
This place is stunning. Little nice touches everywhere. I love the outfield seating configs, especially the little catwalk over the batters eye. And the high situation of the outfield will be somewhat imposing to offset the tiny capacity.
I can't believe a franchise that once approved the Metrodome helped come up with this.
Why do they always put the foul poles in so early?
