Gerardo Parra, a lefthand batter, steps in to lead off. Harvey's first pitch on the way, it's a fastball on the inside corner for a called strike, nothing and one, a 93-mile per hour fastball to Gerardo Parra. Parra batting at .281 with 6 homers, 28 runs batted in. - Howie Rose's call of Matt Harvey's very first pitch in the big leagues... Mets at Arizona, July 26, 2012

Bo Fields was never Queens Borough President. I believe Ms. Fields lives in New Jersey.

On the blog No-No-Hitters.com the blogger was with a relative who told him what the exact number of claps you should do every time the song was done, in a way that beats in a verse are done. Something like:

Lame, but then again, the relative is, or I hope is, less than 10!

Eight, eight, seven: My nephew Bryan informs me that the proper number of claps to do in sequence to the “Everybody clap your hands” cheer is 31 - or eight, eight, seven. That helps save that embarrassing 32nd clap.
Which makes no sense since 8+8+7=23

But as I said, I hope this kid is pre-pre teen!

My only critique would be the seats were never those colors when the metal panels were in place. Also, assuming the seats are painted to follow the post 1980 color scheme, the loge & mezzanine colors are erroneously reversed on this model. Whomever created this model was probably a) using an old photo of the exterior while using a newer photo for the interior and b) NOT a Mets fan.

I think the Shea on the left photo was correct - as it was done in 1965. I do not know if Rob is a Mets fan. I thought the same about the seat colors. I have a model he did of the NY State Pavilion and it is top notch.

I would think that one WOULD be correct, Mary Ellen (the original model from 1965).
If this other model was done the same year, that guy must have been clairvoyant!! (LOL)
Again, I'm NOT mocking his art skills .... just his lack of knowledge of Shea Stadium seat colors.

BTW----This guy's last name is French for "One With Gas"?

It's funny that you say that Richie because I emailed him regarding that oversight. He actually replied to me & asked if I had a photo of the seats from that era so he could fix it. I sent him the photo, he painted the correct colors onto the seats, and sold the model on eBay for $1200!!

    WOW! Good story!
Glad to hear he corrected his error.

I had it in my "Watched Items" in eBay, but they removed the photo after a certain amount of time. I'm going to look to see if I saved it on my hard-drive.

**EDIT** - Can't find it. I just emailed Robert to see if he could send me a photo of the updated model.

That picture of the old time yankees at shea is great. I was there and I basically lived at shea during those years. Looking at that picture i can see myself sitting in the upper deck on a hot summer's day. me and the other 4500 people in attendance. ok getting too sentimental must stop....

Nah ..... that's OK, Rob! Just having a little fun over here.
I know the last letter was a "Y" .... but it looked like a "T" at first glimpse, right?!
I honestly was not sure what other letters were in front of his name, but knew there had to be more,
as player's names don't start in the middle of their backs.
    Thanks for ID-ing him, though.

Ed Randall on the FAN now talking with a rep from Breeze demolition about Shea's demo. Too bad the FAN doesn't post audio from Ed Randall's show, just caught the end of this.

Edit: Actually searching the FAN site came up with some audio from him. I hope they put this one up.

Here is the model after he corrected the seating color scheme. Notice that he still didn't remove the SHEA STADIUM sign from the front. It's still spectacular though.....

the RF scoreboard has a color picture. More like the one we saw in recent years. And i think those buildings in the circle weren't free standing. They were attached to the building.

It's good to have you at the game, ladies and gentlemen, and for those of you watching at home, it's good to have you looking in. Sometimes you see things that the camera picks up before the folks here do, and as a result, some people become instantly recognizable outside of Shea Stadium. One such person experienced that phenomenon 22 Octobers ago when she added a new bit of body language to the fan vernacular. A longtime season ticketholder, you know her as the lady who sat behind home plate throughout the 1986 postseason and twirled her arms tirelessly. Put your hands together for Bo Fields.

Some people catch even the camera crews at Shea by surprise. Our next guest, who will join Bo in taking down number 44, did not come through Gate A, B, C, D or E on the evening of October 25, 1986. Yet he found his way into the ballpark from above, however briefly. The Mets couldn't officially approve of his actions then — and we're certainly not sanctioning them or anything like them now — but we have to admit the thought of this man and his parachute brings a smile to our faces more than two decades later. Say hello to Michael Sergio. Ron Darling
Sort of...that was my Countdown Like It Oughta Be on Faith and Fear, comprised as a dream countdown, anticipating that the Mets would do a crummy job of commemorating Shea.

Check out the full FAFIF countdown here.

And I do believe (not positive) she is in my Shea Tribute video at 1:33, just before Mike Sergio drops in!! I got them both in there, how about that?

-Bud ad where there was the just the message board.

-Naturally there were no big S-H-E-A S-T-A-D-I-U-M letters on the upper rim of the bowl, they were smaller and down on top of the Gate E entrance.

-I don't think the auxiliary scoreboards were up in the 1960s.

    BINGO!
I was talking about the Bud ad on the scoreboard.
I chalked up the nice thick trees behind the outfield fence to 'artistic liberty'.
