Upon further review, Chris & everyone else .... that remaining building was not a ticket office. I believe it was probably an electric room, or some other type storage area. It was definitely NOT a ticket window. Also, the Diamond Club entrance is also demolished yesterday. Someone said today that it was still standing ... it is not.

Your right. I dont know what that is, but I stood outside that thing for 1 and a half hours in 80 weather last May because my school scheduled the busses way late. I also led the way through the stadium for my whole grade since no one seemed to know that EVEN was third base side and ODD was first base side. One of the chaperones goes "Oh, 14, so 15 should be right behind it!". Almost got suspended for fighting with them but in the end I was right. Years at Shea came in handy alright.

I went deep into the citi field area to get this shot of the final sunset at Shea. Sorry Chris you should have been perched up on that platform today.

Wow, Shea's almost gone. I'm seriously going to lose it when I see Breeze knocking down the last piece, and I'm sure some here would too.

I've known the place for 25 years, living through the championship run in '86 when I was six, the horrid Generation-K years, the resugence in '98-'00, the horrible post-Valentine and Howe years in '01-'04, the 2nd resurgence in '05-current, and the gut-wrenching collapses. Boy I'll miss good ol' Shea. When my son turns to about the age I was in '86, I'll tell him about Shea, how it was a place full of memories, magic, and miracle. Goodbye Shea, hopefully Citi Field will have the same magic as Shea had.

    Question Opening Day Question

Does anyone happen to know the plan for Tuesday's rain date for the home opener on Monday April 13 at CF? I know Monday is a Night game (ugh) but would Tuesday's make-up be a day game?

I'm flying in from Florida for the game and need to make the appropriate travel plans.
    Thanks.
    Bill

To me, this shell hasn't been Shea Stadium since the upper deck started coming down. I will remember Shea Stadium and then I will remember the demolition phase of Shea Stadium. Regardless, tomorrow will no doubt be a very emotional day us all. (well, most of us anyway)

Haven't had a chance to stop by and give my final FINAL respects.

Good bye Shea. You will be missed forever...

It's really going to be all gone for the rest of time come tomorrow.

Man oh man...it'll never be the same.

Too bad they can't keep that one section up - it would cost something like ten parking spaces . .

You are right Richie, I looked at the Schematics that they have on-site and that building seems to be a ConEd installation

Anybody knows what time are they taking the ramps tomorrow. I have heard that it might be from 11 to 12. Is that true?

The ball was really dropped in regards to attempting to save SOME recognizable part of Shea for future generations of Mets fans. To save this one last piece now really wouldn't make any sense, as it has zero historical value, in regards to Shea Stadium memories, etc. Matter of fact, I don't think this 'building' can even be accessed from inside Shea Stadium .... so technically .... I don't think it's even PART of the Stadium (anyone ?). It's more like a garage that is butted up against the perimeter of the Stadium. We've mentioned previously all the other parts of the Stadium they COULD have preserved, but I guess the 'Powers That Be' wanted one big parking lot.

Congrats "Powers That Be" .... you got you F****NG wish!
Tomorrow's going to be a bad day. =(

I didn't even know I had it, I was snapping away not even looking in the view finder. I was looking for security.

They should leave the section standing like a large tomb stone.
