not very practical, maybe if they built it the same mistakes would not have been made in montreal.
but maybe not, when a politician with a napoleonic complex wants a monument (no matter how idiotic) for himself.

I like that. The shape is wider at the top to allow support for the overhang roof. Seems smaller than the Vet too. Is that 13th street to the right? In actuality 11th street went through next to the stadium.

Also found this for the Vet:

The seating design looks similar to the proposals for the renovated Yankee Stadium.

if you have the '71 yearbook, that's how it was described.

Amazing that it's so hard to find pictures of the original scoreboards and the Phil and Phylis. Someone mentioned that the old scoreboards lowered into the stands for football games. As an engineer - I'd love to see any evidence of this. I can't find any Eagles pictures in the Vet pre-1980 less opening game in 71.

So much late 60s engineering design that I'd love to see.

    Where's my Delorean?

"eggles" weren't worth wasting much film on then.

here's a pix of pete when he signed w/phils during the '78-'79 winter, football setup behind him
the far edges of the boards woud be in line with the second vomitories on the lower upper deck - each side of his head.

pix during demo, arrow shows upper exit
double arrows shows where the lf board was, this area may not have been broken down as it was on either side because of extra support for the boards
arrow on far right is the edge of the rf board section

Thanks Paul. I was scared of Pete as a kid. Maybe because he looked like the Incredible hulk with that haircut.

early 60's "proposal", where laney college is now just nw of youell field.
ironic, it's closer to bart and the "better" part of town than the goofy waterfront pie-in-the-sky's.

building has elements that were used in the vet., l.a. coliseum and looks like a "traditional"
    cooklie-cutter - boo-hoo.

d.c. stadium with an odd 3/4 circle with a straightaway down 3rd base side.
must have been a committee decision, considering the location...

In lieu of photos, here's some scenes from Opening Day, 1971 at the Vet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnynUD41wC4

Not the greatest video quality, but some good scoreboard shots.

Thanks - you can really see the scoreboard system near the end. What almost looks like hatch doors open at the bottom that would close for football games when the boards were lowered. Man, I wish it were still standing - I''d love to check that out now. Also the black panels between the boards. What was on the concourse side? Just closed off sections of seats?
