And now I just think they are stupid. Their salary is 200m, ours is 143m. Are they insulting our payroll?Led by the pitching of Andy Pettitte, Joba Chamberlain, and Mariano Rivera, the Yankees scored a crucial win over the Blue Collar, Gritty, Spend $200 million in the offseason but pretend they're poor, Non-homegrown Boston Red Sox.
Again you don't see what they are trying to say, or anyone for that matter. There is an image of the Red Sox as a "blue collar", "gritty", and "home grown" team, somewhat of the Anti-Yankees; where the truth is actually far from that. The Yankees have in their current rotation four starters that came up on the Yankees farm, and their everyday line up consists of four (or five if Shelly is DHing) whereas the Red Sox line up only has two players who they drafted (three because Tek came through on the farm) so they were just pointing out the misrepresentation. They were just pointing out that that image is a false concoction of the media.

thats one thing I never understood...the sox fans(actually all non yankee fans) complained about the yankees buying championships, yet the 2004 red sox team had 1 home grown player on it and he only played like 40 games that season...Trot Nixon. I dont recall anyone complaining about them.

We've gone through this before many times here.
People say the Yankees are trying to buy a championship because they are going out and outbidding teams for players on the FA market... while the Red Sox did it with a mix of players they traded for (Pedro, Schilling, Varitek*, Lowe*, Roberts ect.. ) or signed cheaply on the FA market (Bellhorn, Mueller, Reese, Embree, Ortiz, Millar). However they also had some big FA signings (Manny, Damon, Foulke).
Its stupid to say either way. Not many teams nowadays are going to win with teams full of homegrown talent, most because most teams aren't only filled with said homegrown talent.
By the way, MANY people have complained about them. Trust me.
The Yankees didn't really buy their championships at all (I think the Orioles actually had a higher or equal payroll during the late 90s), so I don't get that critisism. They started "buying" players in '02, and they haven't won since then.
*Both Varitek and Lowe became Red Sox before playing one full season in the major leagues for another team. In fact, Varitek never even appeared in a game for the M's Maybe not home-grown, but pretty darn close.

Then why was "Spend $200 million in the offseason but pretend they're poor" necessary?
The entire web page is designated to bashing the Sox.

Well the image amongst the large baseball public is that the Red Sox are somewhat of a scrappy undermanned poorly funded team, and the Red Sox do some things to further this myth by advertising their blue collar players and things like "Dirt Dogs" and having a captain like Tek goes a long way to further this image (not saying it's right or wrong, but from a business stand point it pays off big time) so they were just pointing that out. Well no the the entire page is not just to bash the Sox, if you haven't noticed they're pretty hard on the Yankees too. They called Ca$h on the Igawa signing, they SLAM Torre, they bash Moose, they've been calling for the DFA of Henn for a while, and you can find more examples; furthermore, if you believe that this site is 'designated' to bash the Sox then why, as a Sox fan I would assume, do you read it? I mean that would seem anaglous to a hardcore right winger, or Ann Coulter herself, reading books written by Al Franken.

Like there isn't tons of sites that just bash the yankees! Don't get me wrong I don't like crap like that from either fans (yankee fans just bashing sox/sox fan just bashing yankees) It's stupid cant have an intellegent conversation when it's like that!! Ever read the forum on the Yankees own MLB site? My god! ( I bet the redsox's the same) it is soooo retarded! it's like "Red sox suck, No Yankees suck, Arod is a Fag no Manny is a fag" It is really annoying!!!

I have noticed that. And really, it is all unnecessary. No one complained when Henn was doing well, after 2 bad games he is trash. No one complained much about Torre until this year, he was such a great manager, now he is trash and should be fired. The site is designated to bash the Sox AND the Yankees when they do badly.Well the image amongst the large baseball public is that the Red Sox are somewhat of a scrappy undermanned poorly funded team, and the Red Sox do some things to further this myth by advertising their blue collar players and things like "Dirt Dogs" and having a captain like Tek goes a long way to further this image (not saying it's right or wrong, but from a business stand point it pays off big time) so they were just pointing that out. And, I read NoMaas because it's the only Yanks blog I know of. I check for the scores, and news on the Yankees.
Unnecessary? Hardly, someone needs to point these things out. NoMaas is a very popular web site with a very active forum, they are on Pete Abraham's sh*t list, and their writers apear on Free the Fan quite frequently...all that leads to lots of publicity.
When Henn was doing well...when was that? I'll let you decide what a bad game was.

As to Joe Torre being a good manager, I don't know what baseball you were watching, but I always remembered Torre as a guy who killed his relievers (e.g. Scott Proctor, Tanyon Sturtze, Paul Quantril, Tom Gordon, etc.), constructed line ups poorly, overvalued first base defense, pinch ran for his best hitters too often, and refused to use his best reliever in a walk off situation. However, he used to be able to get away with it. Earlier this season he had his horses hurt, and his decisions had far more impact. He also is the master of nepotism. Refusing to trust younger players and often opting for crappier veteran's over young talent (e.g. War and Britton)
The Sox bashing you're not goint to get away from on Yankee Blogs. For example ask any Sox fan who is friends with a Yankees fan about how they were treated after the Gagne trade (which still may work out) I'm sure a lot of them never heard the end of it. My friends don't need to bitch about the Yankees crappy players, because I do enough of that for everyone. That's just part of the rivalry. NoMaas probably girlls them the hardest though.
For other Yankee blogs though, since you seem to hate NoMaas yet want to read a Yankee blog, www.replacementlevel.com is a good one if you're stat minded. Peter Abraham's blog, though I despise the Daily "News", usually has insider information which is located here http://yankees.lohudblogs.com/ River Avenue Blues is usually pretty good which is located at www.riveraveblues.com For a look at the Yankees Farm system I would probably stop at Pending Pinstripes (located here: http://mvn.com/milb-yankees/ ) isn't a bad place to look, although EJ Fagan just got grilled over his Hughes comments. However, if you really want Baseball news that's as close to unbiased as you can get I'd look at www.thehardballtimes.com or www.baseballprospectus.com (even though most of their writers are Sox fans) they usually have pretty good information.
